hatelull posted:Me First and the Gimme Gimmes did a whole album of show tunes in their very straightforward so-cal punk styilings. Every Me First and the Gimme Gimmes is a cover album, each one doing a different genre. If you're into punk bands, there is a Go-Go's cover album: https://www.solidarityrecordings.com/products/512955-our-lips-are-sealed-a-tribute-to-the-go-gos-12-lp-cd And a bunch of bands covered Ramones albums: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramones_covers_album_series

This isn't 100% what you are looking for, but I enjoy Live in KEXP, which puts up a ≈20 minute performance every week, like 15 minutes of music and 5 minutes of talking with the artist. https://kexp.org/podcasts/live-on-kexp/ Mostly various types of "indie" rock stuff. They also have a song of the day podcast if you just want to hear new stuff. I'd be happy to learn about a podcast that promotes new hip-hop to me! Well, I was gonna say Lucero, but Lucero was already said multiple times. I dig Lydia Loveless. Warning, her last album is all about divorce. Give Boy Crazy a listen to. I'd also suggest checking out Chuck Ragan.
