Had my first spill on the Ducati monster after a year of riding it. I was at a stop light and traffic started rolling. As I was moving through, i heard a siren and started watching my back mirror to see if it was coming up behind me. I look back up and I'm about to rear-end a black jetta. I swerve between two lanes and brake so hard the back end comes up. When it comes back down, the bike flops on its left side. I kept the clutch held in and the bike was still running, so I lifted it back up and rode into the next parking lot to inspect damage. Lost some clutch fluid when it was tipped over, and scraped up the mirror mount and clutch lever and the muffler a little. The shifter was bent in too, but that bent back out easily enough. No damage to me except my ego; really made me feel like an rear end in a top hat. Lesson learned: watch the loving road! Edit: And just a few days ago I was reading about new riders laying their bikes down at a stop and thinking, "Heh, I got over that in my dirt bike days."
