don't mind me, I'm just out hunting.

The local Husqvarna dealership has SM630's, brand new, listed at $5999. That seems like a screaming deal. I can't necessarily afford it, but I'm sure I could find a way to fudge finances enough to get one relatively soon.

I was wondering if anyone here knew a bit about the Husky supermotos, and had opinions on owning one. For comparison, the only supermoto I've ever ridden is a KTM 690SMC, which makes riding my Kawi 650 every day a little sadder.

Their showroom says they have two of them, a red/white and a black/white one in stock, both listed at 6k. I'm considering dropping by on Saturday to test ride one if I can, I'm just not sure if it'd be the right bike, or if I should wait for a 690.

I'm thinking about going and offering this guy $3500 for the bike with both sets of wheels. Thoughts? What should I look for if I go see it? Anyone have experience riding these bikes?

How's the 690SMC on highways? It's the supermoto I've always looked at and will probably get one once I get supersports out of my system/go broke from tickets.

I rode one from San Fran to Santa Barbara on the 101 and it was fine. A little vibey but not too bad. Plenty of power to pass when I needed to. Obviously the wind was an issue, but I also got used to that too.

The seat however. My poor rear end.

edit: The next bike I buy will be a supermoto or a dual sport.

Where is everyone finding all these DRZ400SMs? I've seen one posting in the Austin area in the last month. Either I'm terrible at craigslist or I need to be looking elsewhere. Assuming there are any DRZs for sale.

I've seen a couple in Houston, a couple in Dallas, and a good deal on one in Arkansas, but I can't bring myself to sell my current ride and buy a supermoto...yet. But keep searching, and be sure to check San Antonio, H-town and Dallas as well. Use crazedlist if you want.

Is there proper technique or some tutorials on how to properly wheelie, stoppie or back it in. I've put about 1000ks on the KTM so far and feel I should really learn how to do some of this stuff, for you know, safety skills.

I'm pretty sure to wheelie a KTM you twist the right grip real good and hold on, oh and cover the rear brake.

I really can't afford it, but I might do it anyways.

What is this thread's thought about this?
http://austin.craigslist.org/mcy/2697235442.html

I really like the way Yamaha dirtbikes look, that seems like a decent price, and 40+hp with 260lbs seems a fair bit better than a DRZ

Are these bikes reliable for day to day commuting? I know the WR is more enduro-minded than the YZ, but I'm not sure if that translates in to maintainence

Here's the standout from my KTM 690 searching today:

http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/mcy/2947420891.html

One of the lower prices I've seen yet. the 07 SM's I see regularly around 5500, but under 5 isn't bad at all.

edit: Alright this is local, but which of you goons is this:

http://sanantonio.craigslist.org/mcy/2930117368.html

And then I look at that, and realize for $1k more the 690 above could be purchased...

So my KTM lust is at it's peak, and I'm considering making a dumb decision:

http://dallas.craigslist.org/mdf/mcd/3385345108.html

I'm considering buying/financing that. I am considering calling them up and making an offer on the bike. I could probably sell my current bike for about 2k, and could put down another 2k. I figure if I could talk them to about 7k for the KTM I'd only be financing 3k which I could pay off within 12 months easy.

I checked insurance, full coverage with $500 deductibles is about $30 a month, so I think it would be financially manageable for me.

Thoughts? The KTM looks nice, under 2k miles, Corbin seat, akra exhaust, barkbusters. Not too hot about the tires but who cares.

Someone tell me why I shouldn't do this?

Velocross's guide for being a irresponsible man-child.

1. Take the msf course on the weekend.
2. Buy a 690 smc the next day.
3. ??? wheelies
4. Profit

This thing is just stupid fun, for sure. I've read so much about this bike from this thread and the internet in general, but it's hard to describe how sweet this machine really is. I was definitely grinning like an idiot after the test ride. I've got a million little questions about it but I'll probably post them in the next day or two. I spent the entire day driving all over the dfw area, so I'm beat.

I'm calling first dibs when you want to sell this because of all the speeding tickets you get. Glad it went to another goon, I was eyeballing it on Craigslist. There's an 09 Duke 690 I'm looking at right now.

You're in south Texas somewhere, right? I'm a ways up in Fort Worth, but you're more than welcome to try it. I've got family down in the Conroe and Houston area, so I'll be down there in future.

I'm in Austin, and the best motorcycling roads in Texas are about an hour and a half to two hours West of here. If you're ever up for riding in this area let me know :)

As far as trying it, I've ridden one before, riding another will just put me closer to the edge of making irresponsible decisions.

This would be a pretty extreme day trip, but it would get you from Austin out to the Three Sisters.

Located in central Iowa, bike has been outstanding but I'm in the middle of a 'motorcycle reset'. Has around 4300 miles but still currently riding it. If anyone is interested shoot me a pm.

I have a buddy moving out of country, so he's selling his bike. I'm considering buying it because I want a SM realbad. This is what he has to say about it

quote:

If I can sell it to someone I know I'll let it go for $3500, otherwise I'll be putting on on craigslist and forums for $4k. It has, (from memory) around 10k miles on it, almost all commuting. It's had regular oil changes done by me. It's been dropped a handful of times but it's just cosmetic damage. It's the yellow 2007 DRZ-400 SM.

Acerbis Handguards
Low profile rear lights
3x3 mod and rejet
FMF Exhaust
New DID chain
Front and Rear sprockets (15 front, 39 rear) I have the old sprockets too.
Grips (meh quality)
2 batteries (both Yuasa, different sizes, custom bracket for larger battery that's currently installed)

Rear tire looks like it's been used for only commuting, and it's wear isn't very even.
Coolant reservoir is cracked, hasn't been an issue, but I do have a replacement part if you want to fix it.
I have the parts and oil for an oil change, maybe an extra couple filters too.
Soft break pads in the rear
I have a spare tube for the rear

What are your thoughts? This seem reasonable?

So I've decided to pass on that DRZ in lieu of saving up for a KTM. On the other hand, if anyone wants a DRZ SM in the Austin area, I know a guy selling one :v:

I'd be interested, depends on price. I also have a good mechanically but not pretty 07 Ninja 650R that I could put in plus cash.
