Hmmm. I'm on a 650SE, and as a new rider, extremely hesitant to try stuff like this (and therefore will avoid it) but mine should do that as well, yeah?

I think the 650SE has more travel, so it should be able to go even faster. According to some quick googling, the DRZ has more - about 11.3" in the '03 model compared to 10.2" on the SE in '05. Mine's an '09 but I doubt it's changed that much.

Overall, I'm ok with it. The zipties keep the wing nuts from loosening - they haven't even moved since I've had the bike, and I've been riding it for over a year.

Probably the same reason I ride slower at night - in the morning, you're awake, alert, and have snappy reflexes. When you've been up all day, you're tired, worn out, and moving slower.
