I somehow have missed this thread for a while, but I got a bunch of stuff from Borders closing sale. First book up is Foucalt's Pendulum by Umberto Eco.

pakman posted:When I read this, I wasn't sure what to think of it. It's definitely interesting to watch what happens and how the narrator gets caught up in what's going on as well as the people that "the things in the plot" are happening to. Trying not to spoiler it as I'm not sure how far along in the book you are. Just finished Foucault's Pendulum and its a very interesting, yet extremely difficult book, to get through. There are large chunks I had to read more than once and I still dont understand big parts of it. But like The Name of the Rose I consider it worth it. Next I plan to read either The Map of Time, Hitler, or Washington, the last two being biographies.

OK just finished the Map of Time. It wasn't what I was expecting from the cover or the description but still a very entertaining book. We got it for 9 dollars hardback at Half-Prce Books and it was well worth it.

About to start a complete collection of all the Western stories Elmore Leonard wrote. 12 bucks at Books-A-Million. All these were written back in the 50s or thereabout it seems.

Bought "Naked Lunch" and "The Activist" last night. Activist concerns John Marshall, his ruling on Marbury v Madison and how it has affected the judiciary ever since then. But still reading a Knight Templar book so they'll have to wait.

I think if the cover of Lolita makes you uncomfortable and afraid of being seen in public with it, its doing its job.

Started a biography of John Bankhead Magruder, an officer in the Civil War. It was written by my History professor so thats pretty cool. He gave me an autographed signed copy. For only 36 dollars.

Picked up The Yard by Alex Grecian. The funny thing is I like mysteries and I like Victorian London stories and this book has both so I really enjoy this book. I guess that wasn't actually funny at all. Good book though.
