Agreeing with Insomnia. I loved King back in middle school but that book made me stop reading his work. I put it down, realized how absolutely boring and pointless it was and never went back. I'm generally sick of Stephen King's formula anyway. Group of people encounter mysterious entity that can only be defeated in a very complicated yet obvious manner, with the help of a wise older man, nerdy teenager, rear end in a top hat, retarded/gifted/disabled child, author, middle-aged woman, and resourceful man. The way they "defeat" the creature in both insomnia and Desperation (I gave him a second chance) was both so lame it made me laugh.
