It is uncomfortable working under the driver's side dash of a Mustang in a hurry in 90 degree heat, but my temporary fix seems to be holding fine (unplugged the connector, took the offending wire and stripped the end, crammed it in the same hole the poles on the switch plug into, and snapped it back on...totally ghetto, but it was snug and didn't easily pull out) so I might just leave it until it fails again.

Tried to replace the front lower balljoints but I've managed to lose the key to my lugnuts. Now I'm bummed I can't do the repair till Wensday when I'm able to drive to a shop that has spares I can buy.

Thanks, I wish i could have mounted the front hook so it was poking out of the lower grill instead, but i would have had to spaced it out way too far. The current set up is a bit garish for my tastes but i wanted to go with a fixed hook instead of a folding because of the expense and ease of mounting.

Last 3 days. rebuilt the entire front suspension assembly on a Toyota Prado- Top A Arm bushes, Bottom A Arm bushes, Bilstein bushes, new CV boots, New ball joints top and bottom, New swaybar links, new steering rack bushes Then serviced it- Engine oil, filter, fuel filter, gearbox oil, transfer oil, front diff oil, rear diff oil. grease everything... Hilux- Replaced a blown seal on the transfer case front output shaft, greased all the prop shafts, topped up gearbox oil, new transfer oil, replaced shackles and pins on the front leaf spring, greased all the springs, greased front end. Now to finish the last of the cargo drawer mods, fit a new seat cover and prep the vehicles for a 3000km desert trip!

I installed some 5000K DDM Raptor HID kit into my e85 Z4 (yesterday) It had halogen projectors already with a sharp cutoff line so I decided I didn't want to drop $5,000~ on OEM BMW Xenons so I went with a cheap aftermarket HID kit. I can see again!

On saturday (July 4) I went to the junkyard in the morning and picked up a pair of Mazda MX-3 GS control arms for my Tracer to replace the set that I mangled in an effort to get the Ford sway bar end links to fit. I have had nothing but problems with the end links so this time I will not alter the control arms at all and will instead use either Nissan Altima end links which have a drop link end on one end and are threaded on the other end, or I will make something out of threaded rod and Heim joints. I got the knuckles and rear arms from the same car to convert my brother-in-law's MX-3 to rear discs. I also grabbed the MX-3 V-6 rear sway bar and the lower tie bar from the same car. Also in the JY I got the stuff I needed to convert my 1992 Accord to rear disc brakes. I have a grand plan to use a combination of Acura Legend Type-II , 97+ Prelude , 92-93 Accord EX, 6th gen Accord V-6, and 1st gen Honda Odyssey parts to upgrade the front brakes, convert the rear to disc and convert everything to five-lug to open up different wheel options. It was my dad's car and he passed away a month ago. He had wanted to put some bigger nicer wheels on the car so I am going to. This also going to make future service much simpler since the retarded hub-over-rotor design will be no more, and the rear will be easy discs instead of fiddly drums. On Sunday I got started on my brother-in-law's car. We had to replace the master cylinder because it had gone bad. Since all four corners would require bleeding I cracked open all four brake bleeder screws. The bleeder screw on the passenger front caliper broke off so we had to go back to the junkyard for another caliper. Fixed my A/C, had to convert it over to R-134a, which is kind of a pain in the rear end, considering where my compressor it located. Good news, though, was that it was a compressor that could handle it and I didn't need to get an entirely new one. Now, I get to clean and doll up my windows, since I can actually keep the rolled up (I live in Texas).

I bought it. 1997 Pontiac Sunfire GT, ~125k miles on it. New rubber, new brakes, other minor repairs just done, and a valid safety test. I paid less than the cost of said new brakes/rubber/safety, so it'll do. Apparently I'll need to top up the clutch fluid every few weeks, and the shifter is quite stiff. (Not sure what this could be, going to check transmission fluid when I get home, after that I have no idea what to check. Any ideas?) Pics once I get home if people are interested, although its just your basic beater.

I drove the E55 around the city with a delirious grin on my face, smashing the accelerator to the floor 80% of the time, wasting a ton of gas and just generally wasting time. It was one of the best days I have had in a while. Then I came home, looked at the DSM sitting sadly by the side of my house, and got back in the E55 to drive around some more. One day I'll probably work on the DSM but that day will involve blood, sweat, tears, and/or any combination of the three. No job is worth doing if it doesn't involve at least two.

I bought a B&M hammer shifter last year. When I installed it, the transmission cable was slightly too short to start so you would have to start the car in neutral. I had a machine shop make me an extension so the cable was a few centimeters longer.

I bought a Geo Prizm recently, which has 4" speakers in the front. gently caress that. Lots of dremeling + hot gluing later, I had modified mounts to fit 6 1/2" speakers. Not sure how long this took, I think it was about 3-4 hours. That was a few days ago, then yesterday I installed component speakers up front, and an amp+sub in the back. That took about 13 hours and was well worth it. I still have to fabricate a shield like thing around the front woofers since I had to cut the doors up and it looks like hell.

Repaired some cosmetic damage on my bumper (kissed a pole last week.) I didn't take any "before" pictures, but here's an after. It was a volleyball-sized black scuff which appeared to be through the clearcoat and paint, and two chips which were definitely through the paint. After a whole shitload of scrubbing with various soaps and some gentle polishing compound applique, followed by the dealership's touch-up paint, I'm left with this, which is completely invisible from more than 5 feet away. Success!

Success! I bet some light wet sanding, followed with more polishing, would make it even better. Here's what I did today - 2 months in the making, but it should be good for at least 50HP:   (2 months in the making because it was back ordered and took 2 months to ship, but at least my car doesn't look like an RC car anymore. Now the question is how long until some other Z owner jacks it while I'm parked somewhere.)

OK, you caught me. This wasn't done TODAY... But it was completed this week (Monday). The wheels on the mustang went from "rusty and unusable" to "black, shiny, and with new rubber". I'm excited that my car actually moves again. The project keeps rolling.

The Challenger has been sitting for a long time. I just changed the oil, filter, spark plugs, spark plug wires, and siphoned the gas tank. I replaced a bad radiator, but the new one is slightly thicker and I now have some fan clearance issues. I have a couple extras, but they're for big blocks and I don't know if they'll work yet. I really don't want to have to pay to have the original fixed. I turned over the engine but didn't start it yet.

Look into an electric fuel pump, too. I've had the mechanical pump on my Caddy die and start spraying fuel all over the hot engine block. Terrifying!

I took the spoiler off Wednesday on my lunch break. Used nylon plugs with RTV sealant to fill the holes. I'm not real happy with the paint job I did on the plugs but they'll be replaced as soon as I find smaller ones. Today when I got home from work I noticed one of my neighbors had removed the spoiler on his Probe. This car has a rattlecan orange paint job complete with(somewhat appropriate) orange peel finish and overspray on the tailpipe, and until recently a big ugly ricer wing. From the way the metal is pulled up around the screw holes it looks like he pried it off with a 2x4 without even popping the trunk. I hit a streetlight.  It knocked the thing over and tore it in half. The damage to my car:  Most of the grill under the license plate is cracked, and it's very obvious where the chrome is bent. There's a little dent on the bottom of the front bumper, but other than that, no damage.
