I'm looking at getting an Orion 8 inch dob right now. The guy selling this one (http://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/for/2566055050.html) said he could do $240. Does that seem pretty reasonable?

I am thinking about purchasing this scope,

and I am wondering if it's a decent buy for someone just wanting to see some of the brighter stuff. I live in North GA, so it's pretty easy for me to find dark areas.

My budget right now is 150-200$ that I am wanting to spend.

I ended up buying one of these for $146.

Buying a telescope during the rainy season in the Seattle area was a silly idea. I've only been able to use it once, but for the money I am pleased. The people on the Cloudy Nights forums seem to think pretty highly of it for what it is. Universe Today also has a review of it.

So there are some big sunspots on the sun right now. They were easy to see using just solar eclipse glasses, so I decided to try projecting them with my telescope. The pictures are by no means fancy, but hey, I was able to see sun spots in real time. Link.
