What a beauty, though. What kind of hawk?

I think it's a red-tailed. The chest is too light for a red-shouldered.

Look busy! Here comes the Japanese Wagtail!

In Japanese folklore, Izanami and Izanagi learned how to copulate by observing the rhythmic wagging of the Wagtail's tail, so he's a pretty important little dude all things considered.

nice ^^^^

I came across a really active spot in my local park and decided to, uhhh, park it there for a half hour or so. These are mostly from me leaning back against the root ball of a fallen tree and just waiting for the birds to come by. I probably got photos of another 5+ species that weren't quite worth sharing.

Here's my first real attempt at birding photos. I always see a lot of good birds while biking so I decided to make more of a effort to be one of you weirdo bird people this year. All shot on Rf 70-200 2.8

cool

What focal length are you using? I've toyed with picking up an old EF in the 500-600mm range relatively cheaply and putting it on my r6 and r7. I'm thinking 500 might be the sweet spot since that gets me 500/800 on the full frame/crop while still being decently light enough to put in a bag.

those were all with the RF100-500mm, and the last one was with the 1.4x extender on an R7 and heavily cropped, being at the top of a giant sycamore and me having to stand waaay back to find an angle
