Some I took recently at the lake and pond next to our place. The peregrine was there as a show and tell for migratory bird day and was tame enough that kids could touch it, but still nice to see fairly close up even if it wasn't wild

I've lived in Alberta for 40 years and you see more owls in 1 winter than I've seen in my life. Very nice, and I'm a bit jealous.
edit: Just checked eBird and I guess I'm heading out to Legal / Rivière Qui Barre this weekend

I managed to find one great horned that refused to turn its head towards me (and rotated it around to prevent it) and one snowy that decided to upchuck an owl pellet at me in a sign of what it thought of my presence.

Thanks - we're at the upper end of where they seem to come often (although I've seen them more northerly) but for once we found a whole pond surrounded by them instead of just the red-winged ones that are all over :)

And some others - there were some trumpeter swans there and the swallows would play while the sun broke with the shed feathers they left near the shore

You can't do the Great Green Macaws justice vs seeing them in person if you ever get the chance - their colours are at least as striking as the Scarlet's, and I think more-so
