I had a Battlax (not sure which) on the rear of my K100, got a couple thousand miles out of it before it wore down in the middle. Yes I kept the air set to bike's spec. Replaced it with a lovely Shinko that felt about the same, got like 6k on it so far, still looks fine.

Tubeless are real torture without a machine to help you, I'd recommend the no -mar or something similar

Sporty tires are always easier to deal with. If you're changing tires on a cruiser of some kind it can be total nightmare, even with a tire machine and bead-seating blow tanks and everything.
