Unless we think of Sydney as being a series of smaller cities, which in many ways it kind of is. Yeah, Groningen to Breda is roughly the distance from Sydney to Canberra, but in the Netherlands that's as long a trip as you can make. The entire Netherlands as a country has about the same population density as just Sydney.
