Here are a bunch of invites. Just pick one at random and hope you're first to it. I'll try to keep things refilled (and remove used ones). 28 goon accounts created so far!

160 vs 320kbps depends mostly on whether you believe in magic or not. Premium does get you offline-synced playlists though, which I find useful both on my laptop and mobile phone.

You can play local files whatever the account type. And not just MP3, it does some other formats too. It also tries to "fill in" whatever you play streamed with local files if they're available, and if you do, it doesn't count against any time limits.

Invites are only needed for US accounts, but won't make much of a difference when used elsewhere (where they are not needed). I wasn't aware there was a difference in the artist radio thingy, but if it is different between regions, having an invite or not when creating the account won't matter.

What region/country your account "belongs to" depends on what IP you come from when you sign up, or what country your credit card is from when paying.

Can someone 'review' the service on a mobile app? This seemed like the perfect work-music solution that wasn't a streaming radio station with random songs. My company won't let the Spotify client install so I looked to the mobile app, which is only truly available for the 5-a-month deal.

Is it worth it? Does it stream well? Does it stop often? Is the full site's library available? Playlists? Any person account welcome!

It basically streams as well as your mobile data service will allow it to (and you can select 96kbps or 160kbps for streaming). With a decent connection it works really well, at least for me. You can also have it sync playlists for offline use over wifi, which is actually what I mostly listen to when mobile.
You get the exact same music library as the desktop client, and all your playlists (though you won't get them arranged in folders).

However, you need Premium ($10/month) do use the mobile app.

(Disclaimer: I may not be a fair and balanced reviewer, but I do pay for the service and like using it)

Why can't I search for the Arcade Fire on Spotify mobile? It only brings up string covers and such.

That's just what happens if the music for some reason isn't available (usually the label/artist/rightsholder not wanting it there for whatever reason, sometimes smaller labels that just haven't gotten there yet). In those cases, you'll often find all kinds of crappy covers and karaoke versions ("as made famous by X") and no "real" stuff.

Edit: Also, regarding invites: If you request one via the web page (here or something), you'll usually get one pretty much right away. Here are a few anyway.

Has anybody actually gotten the six free months of premium to work? I signed up through facebook and only got 48 hours.

You don't get "6 months free Premium", you get 6 months with no listening limits (hours per month and plays per track) for new accounts. It's still with ads, and with none of the premium features.

The 48-hour thing is the trial you can get for mobile, which is one of the things you get if you buy premium.

Could anyone offer any suggestions as to why listening to Spotify songs though Facebook doesn't work for me?

There have been a few bugs in that functionality, lots of which have been fixed. There have also been cases where one had to delete the client binary and download a new one, not sure if that still is the case with the later ones. In any case, if stuff still is broken, here is where lots of support goes on.

Someone will have to confirm/deny this since I made it in right before they made it a requirement, but I'd be surprised if you couldn't just sign up using a throwaway Facebook account and unlink them as soon as you're signed up.

Not so sure if you actually can disconnect, since you actually use your Facebook credentials to sign in to Spotify. I also have an older account where I have a "disconnect from Facebook" option in preferences, not sure if it still exists with newer accounts. Might not.

Why does Spotify give you the option to sync with iPod but it doesn't sync the music you've added from Spotify onto the iPod? It seems to only sync local files, or files I have hard copies of on the computer.. so really, what is the point? I have all this music in Spotify that I can't do poo poo with except listen to it on the laptop, and I can't hook my laptop up to the stereo in my car like I can with my iPod.

For stuff you got in local files, it just acts as an "mp3 manager", moving your files back and forth. But to put normal "spotify songs" on your iPod, it would basically have to give you an unencrypted mp3, which they can't do.
