What's a good, cheap cloud service for photos? I know there's unlimitied free photos with prime, which I don't have and won't get. Other than that, are they all pretty much made equally?

What do you want to do with it, does compression matter etc etc

I have a Synology that backs up to aws glacier

I just want a place to put about 25k photos, just every picture I've ever taken basically. It would be neat if they automatically uploaded from my phone. I'm not a professional, I don't think compression matters as long as the quality doesn't take a hit.

What's a good photo printing service? NYTimes recommended "Nations Photo Lab": https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-online-photo-printing/
PC Mag recommended MPix: https://www.pcmag.com/reviews/mpix

It's frustratingly hard to find a shop that does custom pano sizes. Target does, but I wonder about its quality? I need exactly 6x15.

You could do a google search for 'giclee print lab <your nearest big city>' and try to find the smaller, more specialist print labs. 'Best of' articles tend to be dominated by large scale operations.

* giclee being a made-up name that sounded better than inkjet (which people associate with crappy throw-away consumer crap that barely works)

Yeah, I had a great local shop when I lived in Tampa, but there's literally none in my hometown where I am for Christmas.

Went with Target because they do custom sizes and had an easy interface. Whatever, I'm lazy. Hope they turn out ok, but I'm no pro so whatever.

Thoughts on Flickr Pro as a medium for storing and displaying photos? I know there's better, portfolio kind of stuff for actual pros, but I'm just a pretty basic hobbyist with a shitload of pictures I'd like to put on the cloud.

I have imageshack currently, which is super cheap but it otherwise sucks for anything than the most basic storehouse for images. Impossible to organize anything, and the photos just seem to be sorted alphabetically by file name with no other options. Great!

Is Flickr Pro a bit better? At $50 a year, it's still not bad.

My Sony mirrorless E-mount camera literally floated away in an underwater case while I was diving. So I'm going to learn to stop worrying and love the smartphone camera. Maybe I'll buy a new DSLR, but for now, I'm going to just be lazy and shoot with an iPhone. I have a 7 right now, so I could really use some upgrading.

I don't really post here so I'm not sure how hostile this forum is to smartphone cameras, but if anyone uses them, opinions on the 12 Pro/13 Pro/rumored 14 cameras? I'm going to go to the At&t store after they launch the 14 and get the best bang for my buck in terms of iPhone camera. Mostly I would be using this for landscape photos, but I am also intrigued by the "telephoto" lens on the 13 Pro. The examples I've seen of it have been less than impressive though, so I dunno.

Wouldn’t recommend a 12 Pro unless you get an absolute screaming deal on one with more memory,

Is this because the 13 Pro's camera is much better?

This is more of a display type question. Basically, I want to frame a collage of some of my travel photos. There’s two ways I can think to do it: size and print them individually and put them on a backing, or use an app to arrange them in a collage and print the whole thing as one image, and frame that. Obviously the second way is easier (not cheaper though, larger images are more expensive to print) but might…look weird? I dunno. Seeking advice from anyone who’s made photo collages.

Is there a sort of reverse photo search that can be applied to Photos library or Flickr?

Basically, where I have a photo, and I search for identical or similar pictures in my archives. Because I have like 50,000 pictures, and finding stuff in there is really hard, unless I know exactly when it was taken. But I have some copies of photos at hand, and I want to see the context in which they were taken, and be able to grab the original files.

Looking for advice on framing and hanging photos.

I'm getting a big batch of my nature photos printed. About half are underwater shots (Florida springs), the other half mountain landscapes. The majority are 6x8, some 6x6, one 8x10, and a really big pano which is going to be expensive but probably the best landscape photo I've taken. The pano aside, I'm debating how to frame and hang these. I want to hang these up on the same wall in a collage of sorts and thought that 6x8 was a good compromise. 5x7 is too small to make out detail in a lanscape, and 8x10 is too big for multiple photos in one space.

I've got white walls, and the photos are cool color dominated for the most part - sky, water, and plants being the primary elements. Given that, any suggestions on frame color? To mat or not to mat? I know it's all a matter of taste but hard to know where to start.
