There are also a lot of Catholics, like Santorum and Donahue (president of the Catholic league) who just really wish they were evangelicals. Maybe I just went to a really liberal catholic school but one of the messages was if you only vote republicans because they're ostensibly pro-life, don't forget they support the death penalty and that's just as bad, so get off your high horse about it.

My dad is concern trolling about Hillary Clinton being part of the war on women by intimidating those accusing Bill of assault. I want to post something good in response. How's this? "Nice to see you getting woke, on women's issues dad! I'm sure you voted against the guy who bragged about sexual assault, and will take the assault allegations against him with the same careful consideration."

The only evidence for this is third hand information from a dead woman's diary about Hillary calling Lewinsky a vapid gold-digger and one of the women reporting that Hillary said "Thank you for your support." to her at a campaign event during the Arkansas governor's race. IT's actually some breitbart thing about how she didn't believe paula jones. I'm still tweaking, but if somebody has something better I"d love to have it: Glad you're getting so into women's issues Dad! I take it you voted against both her, and the man who bragged about committing sexual assault. I'm sure you're taking the allegations against the President Elect with the same careful consideration.

I typed up a long response but was phone posting and lost it. The short version is it's hard to have polite substantive policy discussions with people who don't even accept basic facts. Even if there's no outright malevolence (i.e. I've heard a lot about these emails/Benghazi/whatever might be something there, ) you're at a deficit if you have to play fact checker before the discussion begins
