The interview with Psycho Mike's wife was actually the first time I've heard Ellis speak to a woman like a human being in a long time. It was a decent and refreshing interview.

Once the Aubrey thing got rolling, it wasn't so bad.

I missed that but Password with the four of them was great.

I used to think that Tully 1.0 and Rawdog were the golden years, but I think now is the golden years.

It sounds like someone came down on them for the endless stream of lovely callers, there are a lot more engaged and interesting stories coming through. The quality has been on an upward swing since the beginning of the year and it seems like they're set up to try new (quality) poo poo now. As long as Ellis doesn't go into baby mode for too long I'll keep listening.

A fan survey said that they wanted Jason to be nicer to callers so Jason started being nicer to callers. Once that happened, smarter people started calling instead of nothing but retards.

Add moto talk, porn star interviews and UFC talk (even though I don't hate UFC) and I'm in the same boat. I guess there's more poo poo than actual good radio now.

The essential problem of the show is it is hosted by 2 obnoxious and self important assholes. Sometimes its really funny and hilarious poo poo happens, but its really easy for them to be very not funny.

I think Ellis is possibly one of the biggest shills on radio. Thank goodness for On Demand and the ability to skip terrible parts of the show. Also Hot Dog may be the greatest intern of all time (excluding Rawdog of course)

According to today's show, the contract negotiations aren't going well. Sirius is so dumb. If they want to be a major entertainment player then they need to cultivate internal talent that will bring subscribers in and keep them. Maybe some sad person signed up for Jamie Fox's or Oprah's channel, but that channel isn't going to keep them subscribing.

I remember that Ellis pretty much had a contract for his own show with MTV few years ago and Sirius killed it because they were too myopic to realize that having their homegrown talent accessible to the public would bring them subscribers for more content created by that talent.

Give the guy his own channel already. Sirius does not seem to respect themselves enough to do any more than cherry pick people from other venues, who they then pay a million dollars a year for the rights to name their channel after them without requiring that person to do any work on the channel at all.

Stupid company.

He's not getting his own channel. He was already making 450k a year. I'm sure they are looking to being him to closer to 7 figures. You'd think he'd be happy.

They did fire Tim Sabean recently, so there's a chance his replacement is looking for new talent to make his mark.

I was aggravated by Christian for a while because I couldn't place his accent, but he's originally British. I think he moved to the US after college so he's Americanized since. Kinda sounds similar to Cary Grant's half-British, half-American accent.

Wamsutta

I think Christian recently explained that he has deliberately tried to drop the British from his accent, which is why he sounds all weird and in-between on so many words. I used to think he was from Boston.

Ellis' son got sent to the hospital with a 103 degree fever or something so Jason left the show early.

Nobody else could go get Tiggy so Ellis ran out to handle it. He came back shortly thereafter and they finished the show.

Wamsutta
Sep 9, 2001

So I just asked Ellis on Instagram where Kevin and Jetta are (noticed them both gone lately). Here's what he said.

"^ Jetta is gone. Kevin took week off. Not sure how much longer he'll be around either. New producer is on the way & I'm still looking for assistant producer as well. Wish I could keep small people to do small jobs but that's just not in my budget. Hate me if you want but I'm doing what's best for the show so that it may be the show of all shows in the future."

What I take away from that is:
- Kevin was hired to produce but pretty much from day one has not done a good job at it and Tully/Will took up a lot of the work Kevin ought to have done
- Hot Dog has made Jetta redundant. Everything Jetta did (for a pay check), unpaid intern Hot Dog has been doing.

I liked Jetta a lot and think Kevin's awesome, but it is what it is. At least this time, unlike with Tussin Wolf, it looks like it's a business thing and not personal.

I don't think they'll ever find a producer that Jason can work with or that can deal with Jason. Good luck to whoever they hired.

I also wonder who gets stuck with the physical comedy gags once Kevin's gone. Tully won't do it. They can't make an intern do it. It won't be Will.

The Human Crouton
Sep 20, 2002

That sucks, but I understand it. He can't afford to have too many people around, although I always liked him having multiple people to harass in the green room.

I always liked Jetta. I like Kevin too, but with him around they are too tempted to do way too many physical stunts that are just annoying to listen to.

This has been coming. Every time one of their names comes up lately ellis makes a comment about how "if they actually produced the show" or something like that. It's pretty stupid to have a producer that can't get guests or do any real work for the show.

Also one day last week the following occurred:

Ellis: We have a big guest coming today. Are they here yet?
[silence]
Ellis: Has anyone contacted the guest?
Will: Yes
Ellis: So are they coming?
Will: I sent several emails. I haven't heard back.
Ellis: [sigh] We'll be back [music]

I hope they don't have any more what's on my balls or let's torture your balls or let's zap your ear. It's not funny.

Listening to them torture an employee gets old real fast and it normally turns into an extended segment. I tune in because its a unique show that often can be really really hilarious, for example when the male stripper showed up high a kite or the steven segal facts trivia game. Ellis is at his best when he is not talking about himself, how cool he is, how hot his girlfriend is, or how big his cock is. His insecurity shows though so hard it can get really pathetic.

Hahaha

So I just listened to this, and this post right here is a clear indication of people who only listen to part of the show then slam on it.

The way it actually went was Earlier they were talking about that Kevin smith movie tusk and how Ellis would love to have him on the show. Then Will pops in and is like hey, Kevin Smith is in LA today. Ellis and Tully are like "you're a moron, no one comes in with one day notice, you know what, go ahead and try that out Will."

Then the convo you posted ensues.

Yeah, radio fans are weird. They take everything personally, often get too emotionally invested and love to talk about how much they hate the hosts and shows they listen to 4+ hours a day, every day. I made the mistake of venturing into SternFanNetwork years ago which seems to be nothing but tens of thousands of bitchy hate threads.
