I love how you can see the thought process "this is fine I'm fine with this." then "OH HOLY gently caress I REGRET EVERYTHING" this is pretty much gizmos reaction to anything that isn't a heated blanket or her bed on the desk. giving her the thyroid medication daily is so sad because she still cries like I'm the worst person ever even though we've been doing this for 2 years now

beatlegs posted:lenny's blood tests say everything is ok except thyroid levels are through the roof, which is what we thought. the vet offered to coach me on giving him thyroid pills & feeding him w/ syringe, plus give him some fluids...i think i'll do that through the weekend and see if he perks up. like i said he's not in pain, just weak and lethargic and won't eat/drink...so we'll see how it goes. i was ready to give up but the vet gave me some optimism with medication it's totally manageable. gizmo has had hyperthyroidism for 3 years now and with medication she has no issues. you should see if there's a compounding facility in your area as it makes dealing with the medicine easy. gizmo gets hers mixed in with fish flavoring which you can squirt on some we food and she's none the wiser. I normally just squirt it into her mouth because it's quick and easy. I think gizmos medicine comes out to around $25 a month from the facility

I’m sorry for having been so absent for years but I just wanted to say thank you to everyone over gizmo. Gizmo went peacefully and from what I could gather was basically as grumpy as you could have imagined. I’m pretty sure she pissed off death himself with her grumpiness but myself and my partner have appreciated all your messages.
