Where the hell do you shop for citadel parts these days? The Games Workshop website is the worst.

Why the hell would they do that? To force you to buy a whole set to get a single part?

I've been off the Games Workshop wagon for about 8 years now and even when I was younger, custom conversions and kit bashing was my favourite part of the hobby. Hell the only reason I asked the original question is because I was looking to make some custom minis for my new Pathfinder/D&D group as Christmas presents. If what you're all saying is true and I have no reason to believe it's not, GW can go gently caress themselves and the sooner household 3D printers reach a high enough quality the better. I hope it turns them into a small rulebook house.

It's not like the bits were cheap. You would often spend £1.50 to £3 for individual limbs or larger weapons. A fully converted individual mini could end up cost you nearly £10. It's not like they purposely cast the pieces either, they just had open set boxes/blister packs and picked and choose when needed. It was a specialist service no doubt, but it was invaluable for converters.

Maybe we should start up our own trade group for bits and pieces.

I have another question! The curved edge Warmachine bases...the 30mm ones...is 30mm the outer circumference or the inner circle that you actually affix the model to? If it's the first, what the working space at the centre of the base?

berzerkmonkey posted:Do you have a spincaster and a vulcanizer? Because you'll need those first, assuming I'm correctly reading your intention... Also, the discs aren't vulcanized - they're uncured and need to be vulcanized in a press. The spincaster can be made pretty easily and I can get a machine shop to cut me steel for a vulcanizer.

Those are night and day. Great job. I'f you're happy with Leviathon there's a video tutorial here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8XurxXUbn0 If you want to go back to your old colour scheme, try the initial wash method from that video but use a black wash over a base coat of dark grey. If you want to go fancy you could also invest in an airbrush to speed up the process over a two town base coat of black and then a dark grey at a 45 degree angle. Now I'm not actively back in the hobby (need to wait for pay day) but I have been watching a lot of painting tutorials over the holidays. So take my advice with a pinch of salt.

First modelling project in over a decade / material report. Thought i'd start off simple by making some more 'traditional' stone dungeon floor. Tools used: Small knife, scraping needle, kitchen scouring pad, cocktail stirrer. Material: Something called 'Das'. It's a fake clay like substance that air dries. £3.99 for 1lb. Pretty fun to work with. Monster w21 Faces fucked around with this message at 22:18 on Jan 11, 2014 |
