Does anyone think that the fat guy that's supposed to be a scientist or whatever just has no more idea of what's going on than anyone else in the book? I just get the impression that he's either pretending as a defense mechanism ("if they think I'm smart they'll think I'm useful and not kill me") or just gone that little bit crazy.
