Its just a shop beater, I'll source a F series for it someday, but until then eating E series transmissions is what it will do! I admit, it was satisfying to blow it apart. Here's a 2003 Discovery I replaced the engine on...They complained that it "just shut off" It was likely one of the stupid oil pump failure trucks but it was still spectacular. that is camshaft and pushrods you see in the oil pan.

Beach Bum posted:I have never ever seen a spindle like that, is that a Range Rover thing or is that common to a lot of heavy duty 4x4 front ends? Go look at a few 4x4 tractors. ancient live axle Toyotas employ the same axle design. I was at a fuel island at a truck stop several years ago when a driver ran a trailer into a concrete pilar and blew a tire, I was 10 feet from the explosion. My left ear still does not work right.

40lb-ft plus 90* and then another 90*. Likely around 120lb-ft or so. Whats worse? This is the 3rd head failure I've seen like this. Normally It takes a 3' cheater bar to pull headbolts.

L322 Rangies have two red wires. I know of a guy that hooked up his battery backwards. Killed all 24/25 computers and the 900 dollar liquid cooled alternator. I can't drat remember how many controllers the L322 has.

After 6 months of dealing with a signal not working I finally decided to replace the power board on my Range Rovers body controller. *everything* goes through this guy. I lost the front right signal indicator, headlight wash/wipe, and a few other minor glitches like loosing sync with the key.

EightBit posted:What? How could you need one of these? What is contaminating your coolant? Hybrid cars. Most to all semi's run coolant filters. I've seen a few people retrofit em to cars too. works good to keep bullshit from clogging up the radiator/heatercores. it might help work against scaling too, but I may be wrong.

new power steering/abc pump on a W220. Blowing O rings like mad, no one knows why. Idiot marred the surface for the abc output. This combo pump is hands down the worst thing I've ever removed. had to dislocate my wrists to get to all the stupid security bolts.

I offered to replace his subframe if he got the parts, but he insisted we try pulling it out. CSB Frame jerking at your service. Pulled on it for about half an got it within 1/4" but I just couldnt get a good bite on the subframe anymore, and I was practically pulling the car. Seat Safety Switch posted:I am surprised that didn't gently caress up the threads more. That actually seems repairable. How did the radiator support look? What about the door hinges and check rod? Under the fender should be fine, at worst the support bracket (57790FA000) will be bent and require a replacement (a good opportunity to pull the other fender too and install firewall-to-fender braces). The foam on the support bracket will be done for, so I removed it from the old bracket and wrapped the tip of the bracket in duct tape until the wad of tape's thickness matched the original foam. radiator support and door is OK. looks like it slide sidways into the curb and not forward. the rim was broken in two, and the way the LCA is bent makes it look like it was hit from the side. There is no apparant tweakage to the unitbody either. He's a very. very. lucky guy.
