thanks for doing a new OP man, that last one was getting tired. house drum programming is a lot about the snare on the offbeats, a lot of times the snare will drive the song harder than the kick does. i dont think youre talking about the orchestra bass drum which would be really unusual, otherwise its the same thing as a kick

Perhaps (though you make it sound so bad! ;) ), but the thing is that I used to be so allergic to electronic music of all sorts. Oh, well, I guess we all change over time.

(By the way, a lot of psychedelic rock wasn't really made to be enjoyable - it was very unpolished.)

that 'unpolished' feel is just an aesthetic to give the music a more grimey, organic sound. im not SO deep into psychadelic rock but from what ive heard and of the major names i believe its very much meant to be enjoyable, what would make you suggest otherwise? that doesnt necessarily mean it has to be overly happy or upbeat

Ok, see, you're proving my point. "Newjack candy kid" "desert trance fan." I have no idea what those terms mean, nor do I give a flying gently caress. I like what I like. I like Deadmau5, I like bloghouse, I even like some dubstep! I don't give a gently caress how my attitude correlates to the type of music I listen to. Everyone else in this thread has their panties up in a bunch about their music tastes and their "attitudes" about those tastes and it's pathetic and goes against what music, for me at least, is about : having fun. But oh well, that's NMD for you I guess :golfclap:

if all it is is about 'having fun' then why do you have such a problem with some bedroom dj releasing a track under the name justice. it was actually a decent gimmick that momentarily got a ton of people in an uproar over a track they never would have heard of otherwise. it seems like youre somehow concerned for the dudes in justice's feelings as artists which if you knew anything about justice youd be laughing at yourself over right now

I'm pretty new at trying my hand mixing complete sets that sound decent, so focus more on the track selection. What do you think?

besides everything else that was said that strobe track is soooo boring dude. dont open with something thats gonna immediately put everyone to sleep. you dont even get a beat going until like five minutes in

its the distorted synths and emphasis on the bass and drumlines. the connection is also one of image, loads of modern electro acts (and before them electroclash groups) try to sell that 80s rockstar vibe

It's amazing the number of killer relatively unknown tracks you'll find on there if you listen to it long enough. I recommend switching between that and the tech house, tribal house, funky house, breaks, and club sounds stations since there's of course also tons of filler.

It's a heavy hard hitting beat with a huge drop, what more could a club want? Especially after a few drinks accompanied by flashing lights and lasers. THIS is the type of song to get a lot of clubs going wild.

You don't have to like it to understand why it's popular, and it doesn't have to be a superb song to get a club going.

the lead synth is just sooo drat cheesy. i really wish they woulda done more with the bassline they only let stand out in the last minute
