Just go with the dress code and go out to Ruby. DJ Kue and I played there a couple of summers ago and the sound system is absolutely phenomenal, and probably one of the best club systems in the states.

I know this was a page or two ago, but I gotta say, probably the best club system i've heard in San Francisco is at 222. Super sketchy neighborhood, but they have some phenomenal nights, with fantastic DJ's. And turbosound. I hang around with a crew of house-heads in SF, and they either end up there or play there quite a bit. My favorite is Jeno and Garth with back2back (sadly, garth is moving to LA soon...)

I haven't been there before, but if its a house venue I might need to make it out there. Have you played at Ruby? It's out of this world, back when I was doing vocal sets I caught myself thinking "holy poo poo this is an awesome system" but it is very bro-heavy

No, never played at Ruby, I'm very much just getting my start. But they definitely have a lot of house events at 222. No way back, after sunset, back2back, forward, bionic. And at least whenever i've been there, it hasnt been bro-ish. I live in the far north (Chico) so I only make it to SF every month or 2. Bad bro-fest was 2nd Sunday (ugh), and one time i went to temple (also ugh)

I'm in Sacramento dude. You ever make it to the Sunset parties?

So you use Autofilter a lot too eh?

I use filters on pretty much everything. Autofilter came into the mix when I was planning my live set - I wanted to keep everything Ableton-only as far as plugins go to save on CPU, so I kind of made everything work. Then when I started producing in Ableton, I knew the plugs so well that I just continued using it. Plus, autofilter does what I had to do by hand 6 years ago automatically. Its pretty awesome in that respect.

I hope you're saying that the opening DJs weren't that great, because I personally know every single one of them that was booked for that event, and two of them are awesome DJs that have been doing it for forever, and the others are curbcheck-esque bloggers turned DJs turned Producers turned Promoters.

Nope, I was saying that they were pretty drat good. I met one of them, Vinny I believe was his name - if you personally know him, send him my props because he spun one hell of a set.

He is a pretty cool dude, although the only one I haven't seen spin on that bill.

Some of them literally show up with cds, try to beatmatch, and end up letting a lot of tracks train wreck, play out, or have some awkward transition. That's a huge part of the vibe that is killed (for me at least)

I came to ask you if he has any mix sets online, but I found the 94.9 mixes on his blog. Probably not what I had in mind, but it's better than nothing. By the way, Melee, for some reason, I always thought you were a rapper, never gave your music a chance until just now, and I really dig it. I wish I listened to your stuff while I still lived in the bay area.

The 94.9 mixes are nowhere near what a live set is like. I'll see if I can find an actual set from one of the clubs or something. It's way better, there's a ton of top 40 in the 94.9 mixes.

Thank you for the comments - you probably heard me rapping on something for fun, but yeah, I've been making disco house for almost 11 years now. I got off the path a little bit with some weird synthpop type stuff, but my next album is pretty much all disco.

e: I'm all for criticism from you or anyone else, that's why I post my music; to get feedback and to make strides to put out better art. If you have feedback for me that will help me improve as an artist, please do not hesitate to share that with me. It is really hard to take you seriously though when you make pretty crazy claims (I think you said I had an ego or something) and just generally trash everything I do. Personally, we probably have similar tastes because One is pretty much the worst track ever, and if you were to give me some constructive criticism I'd take it seriously.
