Mighty Gunvolt was ok and the final boss was basically a sneak preview of the then upcoming ASG2 but yeah, Burst was way better (and I think sort of canon as the GV portion near as I can tell happens at some point DURING Gunvolt 2) and the customization system basically let you make the game as hard or as easy as you wanted

Also I see they’ve gone back to the original title (for some reason they rereleased Burst on PlayStation and Xbox a while back as “Gal Gunvolt”)

I wouldn’t mind seeing them try to make another game in a similar vein honestly

I think they went to Gal Gunvolt because they wanted it to be associated just with their products and not the disaster that was MN9, but at this point Inafune's studio is dead and nobody remembers MN9 and "Mighty Gunvolt" probably is more likely to draw eyes than "Gal Gunvolt" among people who want a Mega Man style game and not a weird pervert shooting game.

Also Mighty Gunvolt is just a better name anyway

While we’re on the subject, how’s the GV themed puzzle game that’s also being included in this collection?

That one dev is still posting little bits here and there and lol, the reason Zero is the way he is in X2 is because of space reasons he only had about 1/4th of the usual boss data, and that there was a scrapped idea to have Zero be a modified roll.

https://twitter.com/sa1999_/status/1784818157070569699

Also apparently in the credit roll the rp is supposed to be rockman points, huh.

A reply to a reply to that tweet led me here and I guess this is where Roll's 8 design came from, maybe.

One Nation, Under God.
They also shared some trivia on X2's no-upgrade ending - they literally couldn't display Zero side-by-side with armoured X on the bike due to sprite limitations so they took him out, and then later on one of the programmers figured they could add him back in as long as X didn't have any armour upgrades, so they were able to throw him back in as a secret ending.

Even with so little data, the zero x2 fight is my favorite. As long as you don’t abuse his quirks. He’s so fast and aggressive.

So it's Bubble "Leed" and not "Led". As in it's called that because it moves forward and leads the way by crawling along the ground and finds danger, not Lead as in a big rear end bubble of metal you're beating people with.

I don't think this is the first time it's been clarified. It's clear what they intended in the weapon's katakana spelling. The bubbles also bounce when fired underwater.

Zero being Roll is a hilarious concept especially if the story went the same way.

"Roll, the sweeping little sister robot, gets infected with a Dr. Wily Virus and just goes to loving toooooown"

... Oh god, that would mean that it would be Rock Man X and Z-Ro(ll)

Hey is X4's soundtrack actually really unfinished? It occurred to me when I was listening to it just now, the really heavy reliance on square wave with reverb as a voice feels kind of like a "fill in the real instruments later" measure, and there's the way that Frost Walrus specifically has different music for each part of his stage when all the others only have one, even though all the stages have the same two act structure.

I think the amount of reverb is just a “hey we’re on a CD we can do this now” thing
