I assume that they flew him in with X match in mind for the main event and by the time he went to the ring it turned into Y match.

because WCW.

Much like the Adam Cole video elsewhere I feel compelled to post this anytime 1999 Sid is mentioned.

Isn't Larry a crazy conspiracy theorist? I vaguely remember something about that when Alvarez had him on his show one time.

Love that hitting the Racist Rooster with the guitar by Hall was a bridge too far but then they... end up having him get hit with the guitar by Jarrett.

WCW was too perfect for this sin cursed world.

Mad TV is also notable for Alex Borstein doing yellow face for a really loving long time and no one saying poo poo.

also they did this, which is awesome.

An Aztec Warrior suit, an NWA angle, a buzzcut, a well-endowed manager, well dressed redneck bodyguards, a roadie, a Milli Vanilli angle, a pony, light-up clothes, feuding over piss with X-Pac, tag teaming with Owen, getting mixed up with the Blue Blazer, beating up women, and on and on and on.

it gets even more mindboggling when you realize that most of that was in one year's time.

Jeff Jarrett is a land of contrasts.

He sucked but this theme always tickles some part of my brain and I grin like an idiot.

One of my favorite late era WCW things was when they had a running storyline on Worldwide of all shows surrounding Hacksaw Duggan proudly defending the TV title that he saved from the trash can to restore it's former prestige against like whatever 80s NWA guys they could get to show up. Like fuckin Robert Gibson and Fidel Sierra.

Then, after they started this, and taped a shitload of the matches for it, they had the 2000 Bischoff and Russo reboot and vacated all the titles, so every single time they aired one of the matches they had to use wide angle shots and edit the hell out of the ring announcer and entrances and basically everything before and after the bell rang.

This was WCW so I'm certain no one even considered for a minute to... just not air the matches. Hell it was WCW so probably Duggan had in his contract that if he didn't have X number of matches on TV per year he'd get a million dollar bonus.

edit: my 20 year old memory was wrong, it was primarily on Saturday Night, which makes more sense, this was when Jimmy Hart was booking it in its own sort of pocket universe.
