This is probably a real dumb question but in OOTP11 is there some way to use the Major League template and also import historical players? I'm trying to start a game in 2005, and I'd like to have real minor leagues without the horrid work of redoing all of them from scratch.

I'm finishing up my thesis and allowing myself to add distractions is a good way to not graduate. After I graduate (knock on wood) in a few weeks, though, I'm definitely interested.

Scrotos posted:Hey Buane and Toona my work just blew up in my face, I think I just lost pretty much all my free time. So if you want to find others for my teams, I am cool with that. If you want (and it's possible to do), I'd be willing to be some sort of temporary co-GM with you in Toona's league. Then we could potentially both play without taking too much time for your work and my thesis, and when you have a lighter load I could hopefully take over another team. And then I'll trade you Adrian Gonzalez for a bunch of scrubs!

Scrotos, I've been trying to catch you on AIM to discuss the team. Is there some other good way to get in touch with you? Also, Toona (or someone who knows the game), could you tell us if co-GMing a team is possible or not.

It makes me mad that iOOTP is just some stupid mini-OOTP when they could instead make an app that lets you control your regular OOTP franchise remotely.

stuart scott irl posted:(I was thinking randomly assigned teams instead of the usual lame dibs system). Seems to me that you either ought to randomize only when there's a conflict, or start the league with a fantasy draft (and relax/abolish real-life financial restrictions). Even just having the computer fantasy-draft players to fill all the teams would be reasonable. Basically, what I'm saying is that I'd volunteer (if I had the game) to lose a zillion games as the Pirates, but it would be horrible to get randomly stuck with the Astros (or for a non-Bucs fan to have to play as the Pirates when I would have taken them).

Having to sit and watch my Yankees draft old slot OFs while I wait for my account to get accepted is p frustrating. e: Toona, how does free agency work in this league? Will it ever tell you if you've made an offer the player prefers? I just tested it out by offering someone a 10/500 contract and it says they still prefer the Mariners. Without feedback, does that mean it's just a first-place sealed-bid auction? Mornacale fucked around with this message at 01:54 on Sep 25, 2011 |

But then...who the gently caress is starting at short?! Naturally it's my top prospect, a right fielder; I checked and all his infield skills are 1. And yes, he's forced start at RF.

I just bought 12 because 20 bucks why not, but it seems to have the same terribly trade system where I can get prospects for bullshit. I traded Bill Hall and Wandy Rodriguez for every prospect in CWS with more than 20 potential. It's just not hard after a few seasons. Unless I've missed something, Toona's league still has several AI teams, though only one of them (the Tigers) is particularly good. I'm still new, so I can't speak for the league, but it seems like we could really use someone in the NL West to compete with the D-backs: both the Rockies and Dodgers are open, and the AI is mismanaging them pretty bad. Anyway, it's a fun league and you should join. You can even give me poo poo for being the Yankees and constantly being like "what, it's just a few million dollars, who gives a gently caress?" Also, is the upgrade from OOTP11 to 12 worth ?
