Hitlazers posted:Not a drummer, I do this, enjoy it immensely, that guy can eat a dick. Also, Toe are amazing, even though the concept is essentially "we'll play this nice little song while the drummer shows off". They're probably leaning a bit more to post-rock though. Basically if you like 65daysofstatic you'll probably like Toe. Just reading through this thread for the first time and wanted to say thanks for this recommendation. I'm really enjoying the Toe album I got, For Long Tomorrow.

Harminoff posted:Also, Looks like the new Toe album is available to stream! I bought it and gave it a listen. I consider their previous two albums to be among my very favorites. After my first listen, I feel like this is a more experimental album for them. Part of me feels like they didn't want be known solely as "that band with the insanely good drummer" because the drumming (apart from a few tracks) is really toned down and restrained. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but I kind of missed their old rhythmic style. The last track in particular suffers for it, and My Little Wish is perhaps the standout track for me because of the drums. Song Silly is a little strange but it might grow on me. Track 9 (the one with the long Japanese name) is absolutely gorgeous and makes me thin of Nujabes. I want to see Toe do a mixtape of hip hop beats now! G.O.O.D. L.U.C.K. is the stinker of the album. I'm not sure what they were thinking with the cheerleading squad sound. I'm obviously going to listen to it a hundred times more. I doubt G.O.O.D. L.U.C.K. will grow on me but I feel like I will fall in love with the rest.
