How about Console Warriors? They've been described as a sort of Two Door Cinema Club and Minus the Bear cross. People who like Bloc Party and MtB tend to like them a lot. They have a mathrocky sound with some interesting tempo changes and some great guitar and drum complexities but they also have that catchy indie dance beat going on. They've recently been stuck in my head quite a lot as Minus the Bear is one of my all-time favourite bands. Some good songs to check out are: Vicious Fishus: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qz8q_xllU0M Starship '84: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obvIF52gXXA and Pyjama Party: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzKiqkBb6qM

Rageaholic Monkey posted:Stream Minus The Bear's new album Infinity Overhead for the next 24 hours at their website: http://minusthebear.com/ Minus the Bear is so good. I'm really trying to get them to play my university. Their honorarium is incredibly low.

Biscuit! posted:Yowie put out a new album earlier this year and it is pretty amazing. If you haven't heard them before they play a very chaotic and noisy sort of controlled chaos. I have never heard anything like it. This is pretty interesting. I love the album art; it goes nicely with the feel of the track.

I've been listening to quite a bit of Yowie lately and I noticed a sort of reoccurring theme in Yowie discussions: It seems like people who aren't intense Yowie or mathrock fans lump them in with the noise rock scene and think that most of their music is improvised live noise. Naturally Yowie fans don't fancy this idea much since Yowie puts a ton of effort into writing each moment of each song, as most mathrockers do. Its just a pet peeve of mine when people listen to intricate or complex music but hear noise and chaos instead. Granted Yowie is fairly chaotic, but in a very mathematical way.

Someone recently turned me on to Giraffes? Giraffes! Their music was described to me as "mad music for mad people." I absolutely love it: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JZqZCS0rCmE http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ItsCGeIBhcE

Look Mexico seems to sound awesome live: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qYmMkjOgpk Too bad they don't seem to be touring much outside of Florida right now. I hope they'll add some dates soon.
