But I'm reserving judgment and eagerly waiting to see examples turn up around here. I fear I'm fighting a losing battle though, it's god drat spaceships how can I resist? Here's my one and only ship painted, in crappy camera phone glory! Click here for the full 800x681 image. Click here for the full 800x917 image. Still haven't played a game yet, but I've got my painting/gaming group roped in for a paper cutout battle and try and get them to purchase a fleet. I hear good things about Malifaux, might have to look into that as well. Small model count as well which is always appealing. *edit While I'm at it I might as well post my crappy shots of my test gaming board for FA. I'll be making a proper table in a few weeks once I've got my 40k army painted for next weeks tourney. Click here for the full 800x600 image. Click here for the full 800x600 image. Wiltershaw posted:Really liking the paint job on the ship you've got. I've been looking into it a little more and the styles of the Sorylian Collective and Aquan Prime ships are getting my imagination racing. I really don't like the hard square bases though, will have to see if I can get some round ones. Unless square bases are key to any rules? Thanks! It's still a bit rough and I need to fix uo my striping mistakes but for a quick paint job I like it. The board I painted in an hour or so using spraycans, I basically followed this youtube spraypaint art tutorial. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9nOE6g0G63Q

I picked up the Malifaux rulebook today while at a 40k tourney on a whim, looks fun. Now to get a chance to read it.

After neglecting this thread for a while I've read through to catch up. Today I ordered a Monsterpocalypse Rise starter, and will go from there. Also preordered the Voltron set. Is it a stupid idea to mount the maps on something sturdier for play? Also bought the Malifaux rulebook earlier this year, really want to try it out, and liking the look of Infinity as well.

Well, I was out shopping today, and paid RRP ($50) for a Monsterpocalypse starter set cause I couldn't wait for my other one to be delivered. Got Sky Sentinel as my monster from this pack, I had my eye on him and was going to buy a GUARD set when I figured I'd wait for the starter sets before shopping. Is it worth buying the Mega for him? I figure I'll buy a bunch of singles to make a good force for him anyway.

Well, one of the stores near me has managed to get in over 1000 Confrontation METAL mini's in stock. gently caress knows where they got them from. Aussie, and they are only selling them through the store not online. I may have to pick up 1 or 2. http://realmoflegends.com.au/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=45:rackham-miniatures&catid=28:may&Itemid=22

Have a look at the link in my post, prices are in there as AUD. If there is anything specific let me know and I'll see if they still have stock, the store is probably an hour away so I wont go there without a reason.

I actually went out to the store today to pick up some malifaux stuff, the have 3 different wolfen models in stock I think, trackers & wolfen zombies. Let me know if you're after those and I can work something out. These malifaux models are a lot more fiddly than I thought they'd be. Soft metal as well, so bendy. I'll have to be extra careful. Ended up buying the Seamus box (Seamus, Madame Sybelle & 3 Rotten Belles) plus the copycat killer totem, and ordered a Bette Noir model online cause no stores had it. Now I just need to learn how to play, seeing as I put my name down for a tournament on the 11th this month.

ManMythLegend posted:I've been looking into breaking into a skirmish wargame because I apparently don't blow enough of my money on nerd stuff. I want to try Infinity, but no one in my area plays it ( ) so it looks like I may have to play Malifaux if I want variety of competition. The only problem is that I can't really find a good description of the game. Here's a 1hr video of the owner of my "local" (hour drive away) store giving a demo game & explanation. Not bad to get an idea of how it works. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zTtHRBol8OA I bought my first crew last week, and going to Battle Bunker this weekend for a Malifaux tourney. I got myself the Seamus crew, he's an insane serial killer necromancer who keeps a horde of zombie hookers around him. lovely WIP of the crew Click here for the full 1000x387 image. It's cheap to get into, you only need a starter box, rulebook and fate deck (can just use a normal deck of cards) to begin with. Most games are 25-35SS, most starter boxes give you 20SS worth of models, so for a complete force you add 1 or 2 models and that's it.

I just had my first 3 games of Malifaux today at the stores tournament. 2 losses & a draw which I was pleased with for my learning games. Also won a $20 voucher for best Resserectionist crew (by being the only resser crew), so hooray for default! Will use that once Book 2 comes out next month, will give me more cash to spend on the new models. Could have gotten a win out of my first game if I had remembered that Seamus is hard to wound, instead of taking damage like a chump. Lilith also bent him over and stuck it in without lube in a later game, she hits hard. Also managed to get 3 of my other gaming buddies along to check out the game, and they all bought at least 1 crew each (one of them bought every Arcanist starter box and also a bunch of mercenaries) so I've now got people closer than an hour drive to play with. S.J. posted:Are they doing Malifaux releases where a book comes out with stuff for everyone, like Warmachine? Yeah. Book 2 will have new masters for every faction along with new minions to fit in. Not sure whether that means new starter boxes or just seperate releases, and not sure when the new mini's will be coming. It also will have new strategies (missions) and schemes (hidden goals). Gotta love their customer service as well. My rotten belles stat cards had a duplicate, rather than the 3 different belles pictured on them. I knew they sold replacement cards through their store, but I shot an e-mail off just checking that there is meant to be 3 cards. Nathan Caroland (the game designer) e-mailed me back saying that a new card was on it's way to me, which was cool that I didn't have to buy a replacement after laminating all my stat cards. Also got my Guild crew delivered, Lady Justice starter box and executioner, still waiting on the scales of justice totem and my awesome base inserts from Iron Halo https://ironhalo.net/store//catalog/product_info.php?cPath=44_39&products_id=414. S.J. posted:Cool. There's a couple guys starting to play Malifaux and Infinity at the store I work out now and I'm pretty psyched to see how Malifaux plays. Not rolling dice seems to unnatural to me. It's really odd when you first start playing, I was using dice as markers during my first game and I kept picking them up before realising I needed my cards instead. It's a really interesting and fun play mechanic, it drew in 3 mates that I game with who are pretty die hard 40k and Fantasy players with the odd Flames of War game. They dropped probably $300 or so buying rulebooks and crews, and we'll be organising weekly games so we can really get the hang of it. If you get a chance, borrow a crew and try a game or 2. When it's only about $50-60 for a complete crew it's not exactly expensive to get started. KTS fucked around with this message at 02:07 on Jul 15, 2010 |

And more Malifaux stuff, with previews of the new release stuff.Wyrd posted:With Gencon right around the corner and a slew of new releases, we thought it high time that we share our efforts. Some cool stuff coming out. I like that they are doing terrain sets as well. I've already got some of the worldworks pdf's that I've started testing, and they look really nice.

Yeah, I think I'll start an Arcanist's crew with the new box, and maybe pick up the Resserectionist box. I want to see the new Guild & Neverborn models as well.

Had another game of Malifaux today, teaching one of my mates the game. Seamus worked a lot better with punk zombies, and then using the corpse counters to bring in belles. My highlights were a single punk zombie beating a sabretooth cerberus without taking a wound, and a punk zombie that died to taelor, had the counter raised into a belle, taelor killing the belle, the belle using her slow to die action to strike back, killing taelor, then being raised again next turn. Started making some more worldworks terrain as well, 3 buildings done now, just need to build 3 or 4 more, plus some of the extra stuff like well's and bridges, then make a 3x3 playing surface out of foamcore tiles. I've already got a 4x4 table which works perfectly with space for all the stat cards, fate deck etc around the edges. Pics incoming once I get a bit more terrain done.

Well, I think I'm stocked up on Malifaux stuff after the tournament over the weekend. The store hosting the tourney runs 20% off Malifaux for games days, so grabbed myself plenty. Rising Powers book Puppet Deck Collette box Rasputina box December Acolyte 2 x Hoarcats Wendigo Essence of Power Guild Austringer Bunch of bases That add's to my incomplete crews I already have, a Seamus box and a Lady Justice set. The models in the Collette box look really good, just need to wait for some of her other models to come out this month, and either wait for mechanical doves or get a buddy to sculpt and cast some for me. Speaking of FSA, I still need to finish painting my fleet, and maybe pick up some of the new models out for my terrans. Of course, and also play an actual game of it sometime. Caught up with Malifaux at the moment with monthly tourneys.

Gr3y posted:That said, how is Malifaux these days? I talked to someone in my Warmahordes league who said that while the game is fun, they've had to errata it to the point where it's very hard to figure out just how things work now. Is it worth jumping in at this point or is there going to be a new edition coming up soon? It's fine. Awesome game, and Wyrd treat errata the right way. There is a living errata doc you can download, but models stat cards have had re-printings with the changes on them as well, so you dont have to always consult a separate document. They are also producing a compact Rules manual to come out early next year, with all the errata, FAQ's etc in there. http://wyrd-games.net/forum/showthread.php?t=17172 It's a fantastic game, the models are gorgeous and it's a low cost entry to startup. Most of the boxed sets, plus a blister or 2 is all you need for a full crew (until you get the itch to just buy "one more crew" and then maybe a nice themed fluffy crew and then....) If you know any players, they will absolutley have more than 1 crew, get them to run you through a game or 2 and see how much fun it is.
