BMW clutch job means essentially splitting the bike in half, and they do use a single plate dry clutch rather than your more typical wet, multiplate clutch. Dry clutches will wear faster and do have less resistance to glazing than wet clutches, but it's not like it's going to instantly explode if you slip it too much.

and second off, I think the idea is, it's had alot of use, so, if the clutch hasn't been replaced lately, it might need to sooner than later, and that's an expense to think about.

I don't know about maintaining the rest of the bike, but I think the guy's emphasis on it was because he spent alot of his time replacing clutches on the KZs he was using as learner bikes, which makes sense.

It's just my thought, because I was thinking about getting a KZ1000 at first (hunting them down became a pain, so I stopped bothering), and I was assured that, well used or not, they're easy to maintain and last forever, and in contrast the BMWs were expensive and difficult.

This bike has been in California its entire life and was first registered in 2003. I am the 2nd owner and have owned it for about 2 years. The original owner did use it for some track days at Laguna Seca and it does show a few knicks on the rear swing arm.

The Plastics and Tank show no wear at all and are in great shape. All of the electronics work perfectly and the bike NEEDS NOTHING. The bike has always been garaged and has been started at least once a month. Nothing but Motul 2T oil has been in this bike.

This is a 250cc chassis with a 49.6cc screamer of an engine with a 6-speed tranny, hydraulic clutch, suicide stand, inverted forks, digital instrumentation, liquid cooling, oil injection and much more. Spanish built and built better than most of the bikes I've owned. Really an impressive unit. Bought it to use at the horse shows, but the horses are afraid of it, too loud.

Less than 300 miles!

Only issue is the seal around the oil level sending unit at the bottom of the down tube on the frame is weeping from sitting dry for 5 years before purchase.

Believed to be 1 of less than 10 in the states although a rep at GasGas USA in KC said they never brought ANY in! Could be the only one here. Very popular, coveted and modified in Europe.

Runs, rides and handles like a dream. Plenty of scratches like any trials bike. Decent tires, can be plated, that's right it has a tail/brake light and if you so desire Scorpa sells a long ride kit. Headlight included in sale as well as an extra air filter (new). Only defect is the throttle body has a crack and missing bit about 3/4 of an inch in the cover where the 2 cables articulate. It has been this way for more than a year and I have been riding it as such (taped up to keep the dirt/dust out) and competed and medalled with it this way. It doesn't affect the performance at all. Also comes with a spare tank that I stupidly cracked (and have since "repaired") on a -5 degree January day!

Has won gold and silver medals in the RMTA with me on it. ready for you to do the same.

I love this one and will miss it most. Wish I could take it on the road with me.
