These two seem like really good deals. I would pick up the newer one, but I don't know what I would do with yet another bike shoved into my one parking spot.

Wow, that's a lot of FZR bits. If I was closer I'd have a pickup of FZR right now.

How's this for a pick up and fix then flip project (assuming I can get it for about $500)?

Seems like there are a few motors on eBay for about $600 shipped. I'd think I could get around 2k for it once it's fixed now that it's spring.

I've been poking around CL trying to get a handle on bike prices and there is no pattern except the more beat up, the more they seem to want. I'm thinking that I'm going to sell the FZR and buy a '06+ GSXR750 but prices are all over the drat place. They also all share the same issues of having been dropped or scuffed or have some ridiculous plate eliminator kit. At this point I may just wait until fall and pick up a leftover model at the dealer and be done with it.

There was a really nice black/red '86 750 for $1300 out in Yuma that kept popping up in my searches. It was totally stock with the spaceship giant muffler can and everything. It seriously took all I had to not take off a day of work and go get it. It would have been a two hour drive for a bike I don't need but it's so cool looking.
If I lived on the first floor I would have bought it, gotten it detailed and stuck it in the corner of my living room.

How bad would an aircooled bike be in a place that gets hot as balls during summer? Found a pretty rad gs500, but it's pre 04 so it has no actual cooling system.

I've ridden my GS700 through Arizona, Utah and Nevada in the summer and it handled it better than I did.

I helped a friend fix one up a while ago and despite only having 5,500 miles on it the cams looked like they had been gnawed on by rats. Cool bikes but maybe more cool for looking at than riding.
