Realpost Habitat for Humanity has a presence everywhere, but they tend to hire ex Peace Corps/real relevant experience for paid positions.

A few pages back someone asked about a clicky box on their bathroom wall. Could it be a water heater? Please turn it off when you're not taking a shower.

Crosspost - Is anyone in Vietnam? I've been tasked with finding a Vietnamese-English interpreter, based in Vietnam, for a week in November. Hopefully someone with living experience and active ties to the US/Australia.

I know the normal routes like checking agencies or posting a job on Proz.com but want to check goons or their partners first.

I just got back from Vietnam. The e-visa system requires you to specify airport/point of entry and exit. If you get an embassy visa or visa-on-arrival there is more flexibility about locations.

In summary: check all the visas required for that trip asap.

For comparison, is smoking cigarettes allowed inside restaurants?

That sounds hella cool and nice.

We hired a van w driver through HVG Travel https://hvgtravel.com/ and got urgent visas through vietnam-visa.com and everything went very smoothly considering our ever-changing schedule.

I can also recommend a superb interpreter based in Hanoi who may be able to help with coordination after everyone arrives https://transtrust.net/

You can hire a private driver through travel agencies and make your own schedule.

Yes you can just pay express visa fees through an online service and get e-visa.
It has to be done during Vietnam business hours, but turnaround is usually within two hours.

Vietnam will not allow foreigners to rent a car and you will understand why after you try to cross the street downtown.

Use the GRAB app to call a taxi. Motorbike taxi is an option for the cheap and daring.

We have used https://hvgtravel.com/ for multiple long drives on business trips and everything was easy and professional.

You basically have to change planes in Australia to get to small Pacific islands so it depends on your time and budget.

There are islands/atolls with little more than colonial ruins, and there are islands that are completely dominated by luxury resort hotels.

I am fascinated by ancient ruins like Nan Madol. https://whc.unesco.org/en/list/1503/

Do some normal rear end tourism like temples and river taxi and foot massage

go full stupid and book a 4 bed hostel room on Soi Ram Buttri all for yourself because it's only $35

If you want a massage that's not dodgy then Wat Pho and some other temples offer this service. Basically, if pedestrians can see you, then it's actually just a massage.
If it's behind intricately carved doors with no windows then make sure you are only carrying exactly enough cash for what you want. What you want. What you want.

You're totally overthinking this.
If you feel partial to one and it's a decent price and convenient location just go for it.

I have used Vietnam-Visa.com a few times for my bosses because they have more money than time and it was always easy.

Lol yes "just get an APEC card". My bosses have since gotten theirs but it's not an option for normal people who travel infrequently.
