doom wiki article on the spiderdemon posted:The Doom II game booklet humorously presents the Spiderdemon as the mother of the Arachnotrons: You guess the Arachnotrons had to come from somewhere. Hi, mom. She doesn't have a plasma gun, so thank heaven for small favors. Instead, she has a super-chaingun. Crap. This comment is meant in satire, and the genderless Spider Mastermind is not literally the biological mother of the Arachnotrons.

Arguing with these spergs is so boring. I'm waning. time to say 'gently caress it' and leave wikipedia to the animes and poniesquote:This is a list of works in terms of length it would be inappropriate to exclude something that meet requirement simply because someone has a personal problem with the type of literary work. You are basically asking Wikipedia editors to remove content simply because it doesn't meet your standard of notability. You seem to be unable to rationalize what WP:NOTESAL states; the individual entries on the list need not be notable enough to have their own article as long as they meet the criteria for a notable list. The works meet the criteria for the list in terms of length and are not serial works. What your argument boils down to is that you have an issue with it fanfiction and sharing a list that notes their length. Let's not be so selective and picky with what type of works which meet criteria be included. It meets a notable criteria and that alone warrants it. I am not going to entertain you with how a notable sub-culture's work is independently notable when it has no such requirement, but let me warn you the sheer volume of its derivative fanbase eclipses what most consider notability. Namely because Project Horizons is currently the longest recursive fanfiction in the world. Lets not even get into its multi-media options and inclusion into video gaming, artistic circles and conventions. Hate to say it, but under WP:GNG it probably deserves its own article. Refute the fact that Equestria Daily which follows these two works also has its own Wikipedia article which is officially recognized by the shows creators as well as the The Hub TV channel for being a premier MLP resource. I could even make a case for notability because anything which tops an officially recognized media source for all things related to the franchise and its works could actually count as notability itself due to its place as the top works. The deeper I probe the work and its culture and the official recognition the resource on which it reports the more and more notable it becomes. After digging up this much information... I might just have to make a whole article about it.

welp, the sperg who started the pony fic poll had a tantrum because his side was losing badly. He posted "Voting is closed", wrote a long paragraph about how many of the voters were people who hadn't discussed the article before, then wrote a whole bunch of words about how it doesn't really matter what the poll says if someone can make a good case for fan fiction inclusion. I'm sure he's totally arguing in good faith for the good of scholarship though

I hate the way these guys break down an argument - any argument, whether it's a statistical causation dispute or a nuanced matter of human social interaction - and break it down into a simplistic chain of conjunctive clauses. "You say that if a person was convicted of child porn possession, that therefore they are a pedophile. However, consider that somebody may have accidentally downloaded child pornography while not in fact being a pedophile. Hence, your entire argument is invalid. If you disagree with this then you fail at logic 101, indisputably." no stupid. this is why mathematics and sociology are entirely different fields of study get out of this ostensibly scholarly community gently caress, gently caress gently caress

The template was deleted and Joeyramoney was blocked even though he has been known to put false and humorous userboxes on his userpage. The fact that most people (including myself) do not find a joke about "a user being a pedophile" funny in the least, however, does not mean that an admin, a user, or anyone else has the right to say what is and is not funny. There is no established consensus on Wikipedia about what the community will or will not tolerate in terms of humor.

Mister Snips posted:it tends to be retold without being explained right and people base their (wrong) guesses on the wrong problem a little bit after starcraft 2 came out a bunch of people were unironically advocating a base-scouting technique called "monty hall scouting". Say you start on a map with 3 other possible base locations. one of those locations has the enemy base, but you don't know which. so you chose one at random, and send your first scout there, and chose another to visit second with a waypoint. the ~super smart-man clever trick~ came in if the first base was empty - you change your second choice to the other base location, because - by the monty hall theorem - it changes the odds!
