Rapey Joe Stalin posted:The amazing thing about this is that without any sort of editorial slant, the Zionists seem like absolute cunts. They are quite happy for their words and deeds to drat them because they are so conviced of their righteousness. No one reply to this! The documentary was very good though.

Dead Pressed posted:While we're talking about documentaries that don't tell the whole truth....man, Gasland is one of the most skewed, biased pieces I've ever seen. I can't believe people here were recommending it. That wasn't even close to legitimate film-making in the slightest bit. For insight: http://www.energyindepth.org/2010/06/debunking-gasland/ and http://www.netl.doe.gov/technologies/oil-gas/publications/EPreports/Shale_Gas_Primer_2009.pdf I can't tell if this post is parody or not. EDIT: VVV Those poor oil companies! Good thing they have Dead Pressed and WouldDesk sticking up for the little guy's right to shoot poison into the earth. 12th and Delaware is an HBO doc about a streetcorner with an abortion clinic on one side and a "Don't have an abortion" clinic on the other. A staff member from one falls in love with a staff member from the other, and then they get pregnant and have to decide if okay that's not true but it's still very interesting. http://www.megavideo.com/?v=LYZ80I2J

Diodeous posted:There have been a lot of great documentaries coming out over the past couple years, so I'll give you a quick list with small descriptors. I'd recommend against Forks Over Knives, seeing as it's vegan propaganda.

Lone Rogue posted:Care to explain that more? From the film's website, "The feature film Forks Over Knives examines the profound claim that most, if not all, of the degenerative diseases that afflict us can be controlled, or even reversed, by rejecting our present menu of animal-based and processed foods." It also uses the China Study as evidence that a diet containing meat and dairy causes diseases, a study whose conclusions depend on a whole lot of assumptions that A -> B and B -> C means A -> C. It's comparable to a vegan Super-Size Me, which also shouldn't be used in an academic setting.

Diodeous posted:I don't know if I'd necessarily agree with you. Although I have not finished the film, I am familiar with it, and the producers. One of the men behind it is the Professor Emeritus of Nutrition at Harvard, and recently he was on Real Time with Bill Maher where he spoke of the movie and he definitely didn't give off a vegan propaganda vibe. Instead he spoke very plainly that "real" nutrition is not being taught in most schools and colleges because eating animal products comes with a host of health problems that are becoming more well documented. I'll have to finish the movie and read up more on it if it is provoking enough to draw the term propaganda. It's not vegan propaganda, it's just a movie that uses misrepresented and fault-ridden science to say you shouldn't eat animal products!

This is a bad thing because he is presenting history in a very dishonest way. By plotting income on a log scale, what he's actually showing is an ever increasing inequality between rich and poor. Yes lifespans have increased, the majority of all people are now living longer only to be exploited for longer which will continue to increase economic inequality.
