All of them are exploitative and they don't have to be. Mein is going hard to defend Carol for some reason. Carol is also profiting off of "cleaning up these other guys". She was buying and breeding cats to get her start and had selectively decided to "rescue" them now.

She wants to be seen as the good guy, and she ain't. She wants to cage big cats and now she has a convenient excuse to hide behind.

Someone calls her Mother Theresa at one point, which is pretty apropos considering what people think of Mother Theresa and what she actually did
