Synopsis

A thought-provoking and powerful documentary film on the current and historical root causes of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Unlike any other film ever produced on the conflict -- 'Occupation 101' presents a comprehensive analysis of the facts and hidden truths surrounding the never ending controversy and dispels many of its long-perceived myths and misconceptions.

The film also details life under Israeli military rule, the role of the United States in the conflict, and the major obstacles that stand in the way of a lasting and viable peace. The roots of the conflict are explained through first-hand on-the-ground experiences from leading Middle East scholars, peace activists, journalists, religious leaders and humanitarian workers whose voices have too often been suppressed in American media outlets.

The film covers a wide range of topics -- which include -- the first wave of Jewish immigration from Europe in the 1880's, the 1920 tensions, the 1948 war, the 1967 war, the first Intifada of 1987, the Oslo Peace Process, Settlement expansion, the role of the United States Government, the second Intifada of 2000, the separation barrier and the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, as well as many heart wrenching testimonials from victims of this tragedy.

The Story of Stuff
http://www.storyofstuff.com/ (full 20-min movie here)

quote:

The Story of Stuff is a 20-minute film that takes viewers on a provocative and eye-opening tour of the real costs of our consumer driven culture—from resource extraction to iPod incineration.

Annie Leonard, an activist who has spent the past 10 years traveling the globe fighting environmental threats, narrates the Story of Stuff, delivering a rapid-fire, often humorous and always engaging story about “all our stuff—where it comes from and where it goes when we throw it away.”

Leonard examines the real costs of extraction, production, distribution, consumption and disposal, and she isolates the moment in history where she says the trend of consumption mania began. The Story of Stuff examines how economic policies of the post-World War II era ushered in notions of “planned obsolescence” and “perceived obsolescence” —and how these notions are still driving much of the U.S. and global economies today. Leonard’s inspiration for the film began as a personal musing over the question, “Where does all the stuff we buy come from, and where does it go when we throw it out?” She traveled the world in pursuit of the answer to this seemingly innocent question, and what she found along the way were some very guilty participants and their unfortunate victims.

Written by Leonard, the film was produced by Free Range Studios, the makers of other highly popular web-based films such as “The Meatrix” and “Grocery Store Wars.” Funding for the project came from The Funders Workgroup for Sustainable Production and Consumption and Tides Foundation.

Eating disorders affect five million people in the U.S., and more than 10% of those diagnosed with anorexia nervosa will die from the disease. Dana: The 8-year old anorexic
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xaopg7_dana-the-8-year-old-anorexic-part-1_shortfilms

quote:

Shortly after her eighth birthday, Dana's eating habits changed. At first she ate a bit less. Then she gave up sweets and then junk food. But soon she was eating so little that her parents had her admitted to a paediatric ward. There, she stopped eating completely and had to be fed through an IV drip. To prevent the glucose entering her body she held her arm up for six hours.

'I wanted to lose weight. I just stopped eating' says Dana now. 'At the moment, then, I wanted to die.'

After a little progress in hospital, Dana was allowed home again. But she continued to restrict her food intake to 175 calories-a-day and exercised compulsively. Soon she had lost a quarter of her body weight.

In desperation, her parents decide to enrol her on a 12-week residential treatment programme at Rhodes Farm Clinic. But how will she cope, away from her family, as the youngest of 20 girls with eating disorders?

Teens Hooked on Porn
http://www.moviesfoundonline.com/teens_hooked_on_porn.php

quote:

This film examines the disturbing reality of teenagers who have become hooked on internet pornography. One 16 year old from Bristol has looked at porn online since the age of 13 and it has almost overtaken his life. We follow his progress as he seeks therapy and tries to overcome his addiction. We also meet other younger children who look at porn, some brazenly and others for whom it's a secret obsession.

I'm pretty sure that my mother (just like your mothers) assumes that I've seen porn or that I've masturbated at some point in my life (specially since I took a fertility test once) but I would never be able to go on camera and talk about how I like to watch fetish porn (I don't!) or how much I masturbate, like some of these KIDS do.
I hope they enjoy school now, since they just managed to ostracize themselves for good.

Iraq for Sale: The War Profiteers is a 2006 documentary about the ongoing Iraq War and the behavior of companies with no-bid contracts working in Iraq. The movie was made by Robert Greenwald and Brave New Films.

Specifically, the film claims four major contractors -- Blackwater, K.B.R.-Halliburton, CACI and Titan -- are over-billing the U.S. government and doing substandard work while endangering the lives of American soldiers and private citizens. The documentary contends these companies are composed of ex-military and ex-government workers who unethically help their companies get and keep enormous contracts and milk the American taxpayer.

The film crew interviews military servicemen, watchdog group affiliates, and former employees of Halliburton.

Waco: The Rules of Engagement

quote:

The first full-length documentary film to present the complete picture of the series of events outside Waco, Texas during 1993 that resulted in the shooting of 4 federal agents and the deaths of 86 men, women, and children of the Branch Davidian religious sect. A highly detailed examination of the interaction between David Koresh, his members, and Federal Law Enforcement. It shows how the FBI misled the public and American political leaders in order to focus overwhelming force on a group whose diversity of race, national origin, and apocalyptic religious beliefs made its members easy targets for lethal abuse of civil and human rights. Gripping and deeply thought provoking, the film provides America with something it truly needs - an opportunity to review the historical record of events at Waco. The findings raise doubts about the FBI's version of the story and their larger role in similar instances of law enforcement.

Waco: A New Revelation

quote:

Waco: A New Revelation is the film that triggered a new Congressional investigation of the Waco tragedy, and caused the Justice Department and the FBI to reverse their long-held positions on Waco. It has generated a firestorm of events unprecedented in the history of documentary filmmaking. After six years of painstaking investigation, the complete story of the tragedy in Texas is finally coming to light. This compelling feature-length documentary presents new revelations about the events that led up to the deaths of 79 men, women and children at Mount Carmel on April 19, 1993. In the spring of 1998, under the Freedom of Information Act, investigators from MGA Studio's film division became the first private citizens to gain access to the Waco investigation evidence lockers. What they found was shocking. Upon examination, the evidence gathered under the supervision of federal officials appeared to contradict the FBI's congressional testimony, raising serious and disturbing questions about events surrounding the siege at Mt. Carmel and the deaths of the Davidians. Gene CullenSince 1993, former members of the FBI, former Special Forces and CIA operatives have come forward with new evidence to suggest that the FBI's claim is inaccurate.

Secret Rulers of the World : The Legend of Ruby Ridge

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4565369222910430105&ei=_aS0SbW9L4iGqwLcp4WXAg&q=documentary

quote:

Secret Rulers of the World was a five part series of documentary films by World of Wonder Productions written, directed by and featuring British journalist Jon Ronson. The series was first shown on the British television network Channel 4 on April 2001. The series accompanied Ronson's book Them: Adventures With Extremists, which covered similar topics and described many of the same episodes. Both the series and book detail Ronson's encounters following theorists and activists residing on the cusp of the political, religious, and sociological norms.

Season 1, Episode 1: The Legend of Ruby Ridge

Original Air Date—29 April 2001

Jon Ronson meets with Randy Weaver and daughter Rachel, two surviving members of the Weaver family. The film shows previously unseen archive footage to describe the life of a family who moved to a cabin in Ruby Ridge, Idaho to live peacefully, and escape what they saw as the tyrannical elite of international bankers bent on enslaving the world. Ronson also explains how the Weaver family's conspiracy theories became a shocking tragedy when the American Government killed two of the family members, their dog, and shot and wounded Kevin Harris, whom the Weaver family considered their son. Ronson explores the unsympathetic media response to the killings and how this incident might have influenced the siege at Waco, the Oklahoma City bombing and the growth of the America militia movement.

Say what you will, but I can't believe what they did to that family.

I love how Bill Maher, who is so much against religion for allegedly being against civil rights, openly mocked what happened to them. He must be really proud of himself.

Next year marks the 10th anniversary of the Heaven’s Gate suicides that took place in Rancho Santa Fe outside of Sand Diego in Southern California. This is the first video in a series called Beyond Human. This video features Marshall Applewhite. He was the leader of the Heaven's Gate cult. He died in the cult's suicide in 1997.These are clips obtained while filming the documentary "Heaven's Gate: The Day After. They were given to us by Chuck Humphrey, who was known as RKKody while he was with the Heaven's Gate group, just prior to his suicide in 1998. While attending Boise State University in the mid eighties director Sergio Myers encountered members of the Heaven’s Gate cult who were on campus recruiting new members. Three years later, after the mass suicide of 39 members, Myers compiled footage taken from the Idaho recruiting session. It is the director’s goal to portray the cult members as people who loved life, and welcomed the "next level" - not as fanatics. Through the use of their farewell video, one can see the joy on the cult members’ faces two days prior to their deaths. This was not a dangerous group such as the Manson Family or as extreme as the Branch Davidians; but ultimately, as in Jonestown, the lives of numerous people are gone for reasons to complex to fathom. Formerly a sailor called Wayne Bent, Michael Travesser is the leader of a cult in New Mexico called Strong City.

His 56 followers - men, women and children - hang on his every word, serving him with absolute and unquestioning devotion. They say they are all preparing for death, to go to a better place as Michael claims his days on earth are numbered.

With unprecedented access, this compelling film takes viewers into an undiscovered world, into the heart of a cult whose members are preparing to meet their maker. Film-maker Ben Anthony discovers just how a cult operates and how a leader like Michael exerts his influence.

Sixty-six-year-old Travesser has a mesmerizing hold over the members of the cult. Anthony hears teenage girls talking about wanting a sexual consummation with their Leader, discovers that this consummation extended to Travesser's own son's wife and meets parents who are desperately trying to pry their children from his grip.

Strong City have also come to the attention of the FBI, who are keeping a close watch over the group. As the program delves deeper in to the world of Strong City, it asks whether Michael Travesser is about to lead his cult to a tragedy of Jonestown or Waco proportions and ultimately whether he's really a master manipulator: an expert spin doctor who brainwashes his followers simply to serve his own ends?

He claims that 31 October 2007 is Doomsday and at midnight on that date there will be an event of apocalyptic proportions, marking the end of the world.

What happens to Strong City and their Messiah on 31 October? The countdown to Doomsday has begun.

Well it's now August of 2008 so we know the end of the world never happened and probably never will. This is a very interesting and disturbing documentary, a must see.

Deliver Us From Evil

quote:

Deliver Us from Evil (2006) is a documentary film directed by Amy J. Berg which tells the true story of Catholic priest Oliver O'Grady, who sexually abused potentially hundreds of children between the late 1970s and early 1990s. The film won the Best Documentary Award at the 2006 Los Angeles Film Festival and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.[1] The title refers to a line in the Lord's Prayer, or the "Our Father." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deliver_Us_from_Evil_(2006_film

It's a very good documentary, yet very disturbing, since it includes many interviews with Oliver O'Grady, who talks openly about his sexual desire for kids.
A must watch.

Gangland - Nuestra Familia

quote:

This new series tells the inside story of some of America's most notorious street gangs. We learn how they've shaped their times and affected the neighborhoods that they controlled. From the destruction wrought by the heroin kingpins in Harlem of the 1970's to today's most dangerous gang MS-13, which has spread out from the inner city to infect unexpected turf - suburban communities, gangs have a rich yet deadly history. They usually start out as a form of protection for their members and the community but then, grow predatory as they feed on the very people that they purport to defend. With exclusive interviews and rarely seen footage, this is a raw look at life inside these gangs - from those who live it and the agencies that are working to stop them.

Epidsode Info:
Nuestra Familia. As the predominant Hispanic gang in Northern California, Nuestra Familia, or NF is primarily a prison gang. Compared to other prison gangs, NF's numbers on the inside are relatively small, yet they distinguish themselves through discipline and fear. They have adopted the battle cry "blood in, blood out," and made their rules official, scribing a 50-page constitution laying out their bylaws. Among them, "an automatic death sentence will be put on family member that turns traitor, coward or deserter. " NF also have tens of thousands of loyal followers on the streets known as Nortenos or Northerners. The main rival of NF has always been the Mexican Mafia, with their followers being the Surenos or Southerners.

I'm watching this, and I really think that this is very interesting.
However, despite the fact that the case is real (I think), are these the real people?

I mean, following your instructions I haven't read anything about the case, so I don't really know anything about it, but I do find it odd that they're recording everything that happens. And, if it's really what's going on, what's the backstory? Did they simply approach him and go "so... mind if we record your life while you're accused of 1st degree murder?"

It's a great little affirmation piece for people already involved in the "green" movement, but there isn't much use for the vid outside of that. I got the same vibe as you did but I still wasn't sure if I thought he was guilty or not until I read up about the case afterward. Apparently he and one of his sons were both in massive amounts of debt and Kathleen had a $1.8m life insurance policy. The film obviously worked an angle as that was never mentioned in any of the eight parts. Still a wild ride and I've been recommending it to everyone since I finished it yesterday afternoon.

I was stupid enough to google this guy's name when I was watching part 3 or 4, because I wanted to see if this was really him. Needless to say that the same page that had the picture mentioned the verdict.

I hated the assistant to the DA. That woman not only had an obnoxious accent and an annoying attitude, she also dressed as if she was going to do some square dance the day the verdict was read.
Regarding the case itself, I also got the impression that the filmmaker was trying to make Michael Peterson look innocent, which I thought was not very objective.
I would have been surprised by the verdict, had I now known it in advance, because, at least based on what they show in the documentary, specially the blow-poke, they didn't know what the murder weapon was, and the injuries were not consistent with an attack.

EDIT: This may surprise some, specially based on this avatar I got, but I was disgusted to see how the DA's office tried to use bisexuality as a tool to get a conviction. The whole scene about "THEY WERE GOIN' DO ANAL SEX! THIS IS HARDCOOWR POOWRN!" was just sad.

To see if I'm smiling
http://warincontext.org/2010/05/09/to-see-if-i-am-smiling/

quote:

In the documentary, To See If I Am Smiling (released in 2007), six young Israeli women recount their experiences of military service in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The title comes from a story told by Meytal, a medic and medical officer. Having described how cleaning the corpses of Palestinians after they had been brutalized by Israeli soldiers had become a routine part of her job, she goes on to recount a particular moment that still haunts her: when she posed for a photograph next to a corpse.

[I]I’m not sure when it was, but at some point I became very ashamed of that picture. And I didn’t tell anyone about it, that it existed. I forgot about it a little. But I would like to see it. To see if I look different. I want to see if I’m still smiling.[/O]

If a nation can have such a thing as a soul, To See If I Am Smiling, reveals how profoundly Israel’s soul has been scarred by 43 years of occupation. A fully militarized society has shackled itself to a conviction — we have no choice — whereby each individual can then bury their own awareness of complicity and moral responsibility under a collective weight of irresistible necessity.

But even among Israelis who are comfortably indifferent to the plight of Palestinians, one has to wonder: how do they account for what they have done to their own sons and daughters?

As a nation struggles to avoid looking at itself, no wonder the fury and passion with which it attacks those who hold up a mirror.

It can only be viewed from the US, and I don't know if it'd be against the rules to point a torrent or something like that where you can download it (specially considering that you can watch it for free).

If you want to watch it and you're from outside the US, a google search should help you find it anyway.

The Vice Liberia documentary is overwhelming. After watching a child no more than 12 smoke Heroin and talk casually about a rape he committed, people making GBS threads on the beach because they have no bathrooms, and prostitutes who sell themselves for less than 1 US dollar, they started talking about the widespread cannibalism. I had to take a break. I never imagined how horrible it could be over there. I wouldn't be surprised to see a Nazi style death camp in the next episode. Oh, and a Liberian journalist they met over there joked about how female genitalia were cut and preserved in such a way that a man could keep them in his wallet.

The thing is, the government sounds unbelievably corrupt, and I doubt aid workers would be safe, especially women. So how do we help them? Send the military? That always works out terribly for everyone involved, and their government would never sanction our meddling. We can't just invade every country to "fix" it. Maybe some of those micro loan companies do business there, but it was also pointed out that most businesses are just fronts for dope houses. Hopefully that's just that one slum. It's amazing to me when I think of how many "lotteries" I won before I was born: I live in a first world country, no serious illnesses, am fairly intelligent, have parents who love me that I can fall back on, live an upper middle class life... Seeing the lives of the people who "lost" these lotteries makes my problems seem pretty insignificant.

This documentary made me feel ill.

People usually think that just sending the UN will help a country, but the truth is that it simply won't work. You can't maintain a Peace-Keeping forever, eventually the countries must take responsibilities for their own fates. This is what has happened in Africa for the last few decades, many countries are just waiting for hand outs from the west and the UN, and do not try to come out of their terrible situation by themselves (after all, God Helps Those Who Help Themselves).

And yes, I agree with you regarding that lotteries we've won. I was born in South America, in Chile, and though we're definitely not a rich country compared to the US, even the poorest person here lives better than anybody over there. It does make you look at your problems in a different light.

A Cry from the Grave tells the story of the Srebrenica massacre of 1995, in which the Bosnian Serb army killed an estimated 7,000 Bosnian Muslims. It follows hour by hour the story of the killings. Through the testimony of survivors and relatives of those who died it explores the pain felt when no one is brought to justice. There are interviews with investigators from the UN-sponsored court at The Hague and from the UN special prosecutor. But the underlying message of the film is bleak indeed - no matter what is done, it will never be enough. A Cry from the Grave has won numerous prizes. It has been shown at the UN, and it was used during a war crimes trial at The Hague

This made me feel dirty inside.

Chernobyl Heart is a 2003 documentary film by Maryann DeLeo. The film won the Best Documentary Short Subject award at the 2004 Academy Awards.
In the film, DeLeo travels through Ukraine and Belarus with Adi Roche, the Irish founder of the Chernobyl Children's Project International, observing the effects of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster on the health of children in the area. In addition to mutations and severe radiation poisoning, many children suffer from a previously unknown cardiac degradation condition, so common in the area it is known as "Chernobyl heart". DeLeo herself contracted caesium poisoning during the making of the film, although she was successfully treated and made a full recovery.
DeLeo explored the Chernobyl disaster again in 2008 with the film White Horse.

I enjoyed this, in the sense that it's well made, but it kept pissing me off.

Quite frankly, I don't see the point of having this mental asylums for pedophiles, since they exist exclusively to prolong these people's sentences, without actually saying so (i.e. most of them would never be allowed to leave, even though they had done their time in prison).

Since the state wants to keep them locked up, I think that they should just be open about it, and either establish mandatory life sentences for child-abuse, or just go the extra mile and execute this people (thus doing what most people would like anyway). Even though I can feel no sympathy for child abusers, the fact that they're being incarcerated after their actual incarceration does bother me, since it could set a dangerous precedent in criminal law, and work as a political tool to suppress civil rights (in different types of offenses, of course).

The particularly annoying thing about this whole arrangement is that they actually live in a very pleasant environment, with none of the dangers associated with prison, where child molesters are targeted on a daily basis. So you go to jail for a ponzi scheme and, depending on the amount of money you stole, spend decades in prison, while if you rape a kid, you spend some years in the joint, and then go to this med-club for the rest of your days.

On a "lighter" note I thought that it was hilarious (though downright creepy) that one of the perverts was so adamant about "setting the record straight" by saying that he does not want to gently caress children (again). His basic idea was that he just hosed a kid because he had the chance to do so, but was in no way a pedophile.

A truly disgusting look into the living conditions of women under the Taliban regime

quote:

An anonymous woman, covered from head to toe in a blue burka, is dragged across a football pitch and shot in front of 30,000 spectators. This haunting image of Taliban justice was filmed secretly in Channel 4′s award-winning documentary Beneath the Veil broadcast in June 2001. The woman was Zarmina, 35-year-old mother of seven. In a new Dispatches film, Lifting the Veil, Carla Garapedian went to Afghanistan to discover her story and see whether women’s lives have improved since the fall of the Taliban.
After a secret trial, Zarmina was jailed with her six-month-old twins. They were confined to one room for three years. She confessed that her husband, Alozai, had discovered she had committed adultery saying: ‘He said, “Tomorrow I will go to the Taliban and they will stone you to death.” That night I was afraid. I hit him over the head with a mallet.’
Money could have saved Zarmina’s life. The final Supreme Court ruling stated that her life would have been spared if she paid 10,000 dirhams ($8,000 dollars) to her seven children for the loss of their father. But she had no money. Under Taliban law, Zarmina was judged by her own children. Children often participated in Taliban justice and witnessed executions. Alozai’s brother brought the couple’s children to court. Zarmina’s mother says: ‘They were always beating the children to say their mother had killed.’

"Zoo" on Documentary Heaven. I dunno about awesome, but it's one of the most hosed up docs I've ever heard of. :goatsecx::hf::horse:

I started watching this a while ago, but couldn't get past the first 30 minutes or so. Maybe I'll give it another shot.

I wonder how does the director's resume read: "Zoo. Award winning documentary about a man having his colon destroyed after a horse penetrated him anally".

Finally... how hosed up is the fact that the banner that showed up at the end of this horse related page was for Dubya's book?

Friends of God
HBO documentary that goes into the Evangelical Christian world.
Ted Haggard is seen talking about the awesome sex life of evangelical Christians with their wives (citing that "all surveys prove..."); he forgot to mention the shemale crackwhore he was loving on the side.
Also, you get to see some neat pictures of Dinosaurs with yokes, since they co-existed with humans.
It's sad to see that most of these people are actually well-meaning (except for assholes like Haggard) but are completely brainwashed (some, obviously, are just retards, who justify teaching the Bible, as opposed to Evolution, because "it's easier to explain it to kids").
To see them teach the motto "God Said it, I believe it, That settles it" to little kids is truly disturbing; they're basically telling these kids to be absolute idiots (who'll probably grow up to watch Fox News)

Overdose: The next financial crisis
http://documentaryheaven.com/overdose-the-next-financial-crisis/

quote:

In times of crisis people seek strong leaders and simple solutions. But what happens when their solutions are identical to the mistakes that caused the very crisis? ‘Overdose’ is the story of the greatest economic crisis of our age, the one that awaits us. The documentary traces the origins of the financial crisis and explores the eerie similarities with today’s situation, where states like Greece, Iceland and even the U.S. seems to be in danger of collapsing.

Among those interviewed are experts who were mocked when they predicted the current crisis. Other interviewees include Nobel laureate Vernon Smith and former US Comptroller General David Walker (I.O.U.S.A). The film is shot in the U.S., Sweden and Germany and makes extensive use of music, archive footage and graphics.

A documentary about the first Kids Beauty Pageant held in the UK. It is, obviously, infuriating and painful.

Some thoughts:
I want to kill the fat ugly bitch that organized this, as well as the crazy parents of the contestants (except the one from the low income family, she was cool, and talked against exploiting kids with make up and the like)

EDIT: Adding the link seemed like a good idea.

This is such a great thread, and several recommendations have kept me occupied for hours so far!

However.

Can anyone recommend any documentaries that aren't so depressing? I can only learn so much about Bulgarian orphanages/Canada's horrible treatment of Aboriginals/reasons why we're going to run out of fuel and fall into a world of chaos/stories of global financial ruin before I start feeling like slitting my wrists. A few more along the lines of An Idiot Abroad and Exit Through the Gift Shop, for example.

Trekkies 1 and 2
The King of Kong
Monster Camp

In general, any documentary about subcultures where people take themselves too seriously.

Did anybody else notice that one of the Phelps' girls makes a reference to Antoine Dodson when answering Louis' questions?
She starts with "Weeeell, obviously..." and her sisters start to giggle.

It was awesome.

OMG, really? The dude from https://www.godhatesfags.com is anti-gay? This is an unexpected turn of events.
It was still awesome (EDIT: by that I mean hilarious)

To contribute:

Death of Kim Il Sung
It's not really a documentary (unless you speak Korean, I guess) just a video covering the TOTALLY SPONTANEOUS reactions after Kim Il Sung's death (the father of the current insane North Korean tyrant, Kim Jong Il). I just finished a book about North Korea, so the whole phenomenon surprises me. Though a lot of it is clearly staged, there are actually a lot of people who cried like that, and who even committed suicide after Kim Il Sung's death. It's like North Korea is one big experiment on cult mentality.

NOTE: The video is hosted by an insane pro-north korea retard, so don't pay attention to the propagandistic title.

It's not funny any more. They really need to be eradicated.

No, they don't.
If there's actual evidence of child endangerment (physical abuse) or drug-related crimes then they should be brought to court; otherwise, they should just be left alone.

The Phelps represent one of the beautiful things about the US. The right of people to say absolutely batshit insane things without the threat of being "eradicated".

As one of the many people who will burn in hell, according to these idiots, I couldn't care less about what they have to say, and find it specially offensive in certain occasions, but they have the right to say it, without the threat of "private groups" doing vigilantism because they don't like their message (which, as another poster said, is limited to quoting some of the craziest bible passages, not making them up).

Still obsessed with North Korea situation so...
Inside Undercover in North Korea

Join National Geographic's Lisa Ling as she captures a rare look inside North Korea - something few Americans have ever been able to do. Posing as an undercover medical coordinator and closely guarded throughout her trip, Lisa moves inside the most isolated nation in the world, encountering a society completely dominated by government and dictatorship. Glimpse life inside North Korea as you've never seen before with personal accounts and powerful footage. Witness first-hand efforts by humanitarians and the challenges they face from the rogue regime.
The ending, with the reactions of the patients after the surgery, is particularly frightening.

I feel like I'm the only person on earth who didn't like Dear Zachary. The whole thing was a one-sided hit piece by a bunch of grieving family members about how they knew the way things went down and they didn't need things like evidence or reasonable doubt to get in the way, I can see how it would be depressing if you take everything at face value but I couldn't get over the fact that the entire movie is just a bunch of people bitching about how stupid and evil a guy's ex-wife is and not much else.

You did see the end, right?

I know what I saw
A documentary about UFO sightings. It shows former generals, ministers, Air Force personnel, etc.
It does not refer to abductions or things like that, it limits itself to UFOs.
Although I'm very skeptic, it's still an interesting watch, since it has more "credible" witnesses, instead of the usual redneck.

An anime nerd tries his hand at making an animated short in one year. He's kind of a jackass and there's plenty of unintentional comedy. I recently watched this and found it really funny, it's a perfect snapshot of a very specific kind of geek. Lots of cringeworthy moments. It starts slow but once you get deeper into his world it's pretty revealing.
