Turn on exposure delay mode when you shoot static stuff if you don't have a release.
It'll raise the mirror and wait a couple of seconds for vibrations to subside before popping the shutter, which can be handy if your support's not up to snuff.

Don't forget to turn it off afterwards or you'll go crazy.
