Bought a macro lens for my 7D a few months ago and finally got around to actually using it a few days ago. Here´s a few of my first tries at macro photography (yeah, obligatory newbie flower shots  ):

Yes, the onboard flash is used to trigger the remote flash. You have the option of setting up several groups if you have more than one flash and can adjust the ratio between them.
