I'm not sure if I like the design language going down the chain that far. It cheapens the upper tiered cars pretty well.

It looks like all they did was move from a Yaris-derived platform to a Corolla-derived platform. It made business sense, kinda, but the market completely fell out on the Vibe/Matrix around the refresh anyway.

Mr. Wiggles posted:When I had it, I regularly got 31-32 mixed mileage. That's fine for something that I could completely fill with amplifiers and drums and still move at a brisk pace. I usually get 28-30 out of my Vibe with the same setup. The 2.4 is a fun little engine

PT6A posted:That's... not terribly impressive, in my opinion. I get around 26 mpg in my Mustang, again in mixed usage, driving with no concern for fuel economy. If I were driving a lighter car with a smaller engine, I would certainly want to see a larger improvement than that. The bad thing is that it's not lighter!

How did the Chevy Aveo suddenly become acceptable?

mod sassinator posted:It's not an Aveo anymore--the Sonic is getting great reviews: http://www.autoblog.com/2011/09/23/2012-chevrolet-sonic-first-drive-review/ Thwomp posted:Edit^^^ I have no idea but this wasn't an Aveo. It's a second-gen Aveo built and designed by the same people on an updated platform. I personally haven't driven one, but I'm surprised they've turned it around. Then again, the Cruze has been better regarded than the Cobalt--so maybe Daewoo just got their act together.

Unless I'm reading my dimensions really incorrectly, is Buick seriously bringing a Pontiac Vibe sized car to market? That's hilarious, and a little awesome.

Seeing that pic and looking into it; the Mokka is reportedly 4300mm/169.3 inches long. The Sonic/Aveo is ten inches shorter, while the final-gen vibe is 172 inches long.

I bought a Pontiac Vibe because I wanted a 4 seater sometimes, a 2 seater when I needed to haul things back and forth. It carried an entire move once, and is still small enough to comfortably parallel park. Wagons are ugly as sin, but the practicality just cannot be beat.

Not my pic, but a good demonstration of the cargo area you can get on a compact wagon.
