I think one to two round encounters kind of even out when you're doing a bunch of them in one game day, and mixing them in with slightly longer encounters, especially at lower levels where your hitpoints aren't quite that high (this is less of a problem in Pathfinder) and they have less access to healing spells (also less of an issue in Pathfinder).

Time-wise it'd either be on a weeknight from 8-11 Eastern or Sunday evening 6-10ish Eastern. Starting, pretty much whenever. I'd probably run Council of Thieves unless folks wanted to wait for Kingmaker.

[ happyelf posted:]Even if this is the case, it's still a terrible decision, imposes bizzare limites on distribution and stocking, and did not make sense. This make sense when you look at how people were planning on weaseling around it. Just in that thread there's one guy talking about how he can produce dual-system stuff if it's a PDF since that's not a real product and other crazy poo poo. Wizards didn't want any dual-system material because 3e was open and had in effect become a competitor.

I guess in the meantime, I'll start rolling up a character!

Probably maptools (from http://rptools.net), but I'll look into Fantasy Grounds. OK. Let me do a bit of prepwork, then, and I'll post a recruitment thread by middle of the week. For folks making characters: we'll be doing High Fantasy (20 points) for stats, and anything in the core book is fine. Playtest classes may be acceptable depending on how well you sell it. Traits will be in use; one from the AP and one from the basic trait document. I don't really house-rule anything, though I'm not a huge fan of multiclassing and it'll be hard to sell me on more than two classes. I'm willing to run Council of Thieves, Legacy of Fire, or Kingmaker, though Kingmaker won't be available until April. Respond here or via PM and let me know which AP you'd prefer.

I'd prefer to NOT do Kingmaker since I'll be running that for my players and will also be receiving it in the mail at the same time as you, so there's no chance I'm not going to be reading it. I don't know a thing about the other APs though, so I'm open for either.

Well, no OGL vs GSL argument is complete without mentioning this for the billionth time. What does that have to do with the GSL you say? It has to do with the attitude of the company that crafted it and what kind of shenanigans they are capable of... I'm not saying that the GSL is unreasonable, especially in the context of copyright issues in the pre WoTC days... But leaving the OGL for the GSL is like getting married to that hot chick that already used to give up the goods everyday. It's all cool at first cause man, YOU BAGGED HER YEAH, but then she's all "you can never look at porn again" and one day, it's "Oh, by the way, no more blowjobs, ever."

Hopefully this won't ignite another shitstorm because I'm genuinely curious, when they talked about the Pathfinder app did they mention a release date or even a rough estimate? I ended up getting someone's old ipod touch as a gift when they upgraded to a new model so I'll probably buy the drat thing just to see what kind of cool stuff it can do.

Ulta posted:Are there any prestige classes out there that let me grow wings out my back? Or will I have to wait till epic level? From 3.5 material: Rainbow servant (Complete Divine, arcane caster prestige class) gets you class level/minutes flight a day with pretty pretty rainbow wings. Enlightened Spirit (Warlock prestige class from Complete Mage) gets you a nifty set of celestial wings. Warlock itself (Complete Arcane, base class) can get fell flight at level 5 as well, which lets you zip around on a pair of shadowy wings. At higher levels of pure warlock, you can turn into a cloud of bats Dracula style. Favoured Soul (Complete Divine, base class) grows wings at level 17 based on alignment. Feathered wings for good guys, demonic bat wings for the baddies. Possibly a bit too late in level progression for your tastes, and not an actual PrC, but if you want to do the whole divine vengeance bit, it's pretty good. If you're a non caster... Well, wings of flying are only 54,000 GP.
