I've convinced myself that next month's book needs to be truly awful so I'm looking through the worst book ever and books you couldn't finish thread. You are warned.

Let me guess, it's about how your worthless waste of carbon aspie retard baby is in fact a special snowflake and you did the right thing by not drowning it at birth?

Wrong! It's about how the author is in fact a special snowflake!

So when are the book-of-the-month threads going back to good books instead of terrible/ironic choices?

Don't forget the novelization of the screenplay of the movie of the epic Beowulf.

That was actually decent.

I was hoping to see a return to something worth reading.

There's nothing stopping people from posting other threads, which I'm hoping will happen. This being a comedy site founded on mocking stupid poo poo I thought an actual "awful" book of the month might be funnier. We shall see.

surely there are novels where this instinct is so carefully triggered

The main example I can think of is Poppy Brite's Liquor series, about a couple of dudes who start an alcohol themed restaurant. It's basically food porn, and I'd find it hard to believe it exists in a vacuum.

Psalmanazar posted:

James Bond novels have a ridiculous focus on food for some reason, you could check those out.

Yeah Bond is good for this but then again Fleming just loved describing any sort of sensuality.
