I finally got Porcupine Tree's Closure/Continuation.Live.Amsterdam 07/11/22 Blu-Ray and just finished watching it. Holy poo poo, they're still so good live :stwoon:

The setlist is almost exactly the same as when I saw them in NYC (sans I Drive The Hearse).

TYS rules, they used to play shows in my basement like 15 years ago

closest way I can describe them is if the Rx Bandits and Coheed & Cambria had a baby

They were a local band when I first got into my college's radio station (I hosted a prog show at the time). Me being a total novice at setting up appearances / interviews went from initially asking for a simple phone interview. They accepted, but I got too power hungry with it and threw the idea around of them coming into the studio in person and performing live.

Few days later got an email saying one of the members' cat needed to be rushed to the vet so they couldn't come in. Band ghosted me after that lol

huh, you know I've always been so devoted to WSOU i've actually never tuned into WMSC. I'm not even sure it comes in up here (Bergen county), I barely get SOU half the time.

Yeah our signal dies after like 5 miles, so unless it's through the website or the iHeart app it ain't happening.

I've been absolutely obsessed with The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. It's my favorite Genesis album and its not even close. Are there other bands I should check out for that mid-70's Genesis kind of vibe?

I like how there is a slickness and touch of Jazz fusion in those albums. Folky/classical inspired stuff doesn't turn me off but I'm just way more into the sounds on TLLDoB, Trick of The Tale and Duke. I listen to Camel too and I guess they have some stuff like that in the late 70's.

I'm decently well versed in old school prog so I don't need any recommendations for Yes stuff. Basically if Brufford played in a band you can assume I have listened to their entire discography.

I'll assume you're well versed in both U.K. albums then.

Spock's Beard's Snow /// Marillion's Brave /// Saga's In Transit /// Twelfth Night's Live & Let Live hits a similar spot.

Also Zappa's late-70's period.

Which Zappa's should I listen to?

His 1973 - 79 run (Over-Nite Sensation thru Joe's Garage) should hit that spot.
