Great kid's shows in recent memory: Phineas and Ferb Chowder Flapjack Adventure Time Danny Phantom Fairly Oddparents Ned's Declassified whatever Ben 10 Kim Possible is surprisingly alright, I'd say. Billy and Mandy was fantastic after it dropped Evil Con Carne. The christmas special was particularly awesome. On the subject of Phineas and Ferb's designs: I thought they were stupid and wrote the show off until it was the only thing I could find on TV. It really is a lot better than the style would let on. An entire episode was a setup for a Citizen Kane joke. The entire episode's plot, for one classy fuckin' joke. Shows that have been mediocre to terrible: El Tigre Honeybees (or whatever the gently caress it's called) My Life as a Teenage Robot Johnny Test Ben 10: Alien Force (suuuuucks) Also most of the stuff on Disney is just really heavy marketed to the Tween demographic and the Tween demographic exclusively. The shows above that I listed above have this appeal to everyone, which is great, because manchildren like you and I like to buy DVD sets. But all of these High School Musical spin-offs are only good for 13 year-olds and those weirdos in high school. In particular, "As the bell rings." I don't know what the gently caress is up with that show but I don't like it one bit. Zack and Cody, Cory in the House, all those shows are all really mediocre compared to the kids' sitcoms from the 90s (Boy Meets World, Kenan and Kel, etc etc etc) I am such a loving loser writing my deepest thoughts on the state of children's entertainment

nfreakct posted:That you could even put El Tigre in the same category as Johnny Test is blasphemy. El Tigre is (was) a pretty solid cartoon that had some great moments and some lovely design all around. Too bad it was canceled after only 2 seasons. Part of the problem I think, is that in my head it kinda gets blended with Mucha Lucha which was just terrible.

Episode posted:While we're on the subject of Nickelodeon, has anyone seen The Troop? It's a live-action show about a group of teens in a secret international society who are dedicated to fighting monsters. There are some serious shades of Men In Black, the writing is clever, and the cgi monster effects aren't too shabby considering what has to be a small budget. I was kind of surprised by it. There have been far too many shows playing this angle and they've all been lovely

Spectacular Spider-man is absolutely amazing and I thought the third season was in the works. I loved every episode. It did a great job with everything that all the other series/movies never really played up. The different love interests, being a real person in addition to spider-man, villains doing villainous things instead of over-the-top bullshit etc also when I get back to school I'm resubscribing to Netflix. That is loving fantastic.

I can't stand Total Drama X. It might be the concept. What's the point in a scripted, animated reality show? It might be the characters. They're all cliched to hell and back. It might be the style. It's ugly as hell. It might be everything all at once. And Kid vs Kat. Don't loving get me started on Kid vs Kat. Hey Canadians. Make some good shows so I don't have to put up with this bullshit. (I do have a soft spot for 6Teen, though. Don't ask me why, I don't know. It's terrible, but I like the charm of it )

I love The Weekenders. But for a moment, I wanna yell about Kid vs Kat some more. Obviously it's cheap to produce and that's why it's still around, but how did it come into creation? Not a matter of "who greenlit this garbage" but rather "who drafted this garbage, who though this poo poo was a good idea to bring to an executive to get greenlit in the first loving place" I mean like, Johnny Test, bad as it is, at least has a decent idea behind it. It's basically Dexter's Lab inverted. Told from the POV of Dee-Dee more or less. The execution is just god-loving-awful, but the idea has some merit behind it. Kid vs Kat, though. Like, somebody said "Hey there's some douchey kid and his pet cat is actually an alien and they don't like eachother so they fight" and that was that and it got picked up. It took Phineas and Ferb, a show with a fantastic premise, something like, 4 years to get picked up or something. Did Kid vs Kat have to hold out longer? Less? Either way, the fact that somebody thought it up, wrote it down, considered it a good idea, and now there's a team of people working on scripts and art ideas for it, like. When you're that guy, writing scripts for Kid vs Kat, what the gently caress are you doing with your life? Are you proud of the work you produce? Do you come home from a long day at the office and say, "Man, I wrote such a good loving script for Kid vs Kat today. That show is really going places!" Man. Show pisses me right the gently caress off. edit: Marc Buhaj, Senior Vice President Programming, Jetix Europe posted:“We are excited to be part of the Kid Vs. Kat adventure with the Studio B team. The series has those quality cartoon elements found in the classics - great music and score, neat characters and crisp slapstick timing. Our main duo of Coop and Kat are set to establish one of the great ongoing cartoon rivalries. One unlucky kid with one freaky, ferocious feline creates absolute mayhem that Jetix kids across Europe will love. I have a feeling that Coop is the one who is going to need a full nine lives just to survive!” gently caress you, Marc Buhaj, Senior Vice President Programming, Jetix Europe. Johnny Yong Bosch is totally the most successful. Being a relatively well-known and respected voice actor over a music career nobody really knows about.
