The character designs and animation on Phineas and Ferb are just ugly. They look like something out of a bad flash cartoon. I just can't bring myself to watch it.

Yeah, basically once the rest of the world finds out about the existence of mutants, the series gets a lot better (Day of Reckoning). Though a few of the season 3 episodes are some of the worst, actually. The one where Spike drinks some new energy drink and it makes him mutate so his can't retract his spikes/bones, and joins the Morlocks...though since he was by FAR the worst main character, they needed a way to get rid of him. And the one where Toad steals Nightcrawler's holo-emitter is pretty stupid, too.

But "Blind Alley" is really good. Mytique kidnaps Cyclops, and places him in the middle of a Mexican desert without his visor.

Well, Cyclops has always been a dick.

Don't know what the industry term is for it, or even if there is one, but bless all the TV people for putting jokes that only parents have the experience to understand.

It's so awesome (and usually genuinely hilarious) to catch some 80's reference or something that is over the demographic's head. Or have movies and stuff parodied that obviously the child wouldn't have seen before.

Billy and Mandy's "El Gado" or whatever dude based off Snake Plissken and Ash from Evil Dead come to mind.

I've heard rumors from people who claim to know what they're talking about that animation guys are protected by a union agreement that requires them to get paid more after the series gets 2 seasons or a little over 40 episodes, so the networks cut it off or replace the staff instead of paying them more unless the series is doing incredibly. But I don't have first-hand experience with the animation industry, so who knows?

Also, have a very disappointing screenshot of the live action Flapjack protagonists if you haven't seen it already. Bubby was pretty funny though:

I loved Flapjack and Chowders use of stop motion, puppets and live action. I wish moore cartoons would do this. It just made it so much more creative and special. :(
