I'm the other half of DAAT (aka Joe Mnemonic).

As for Jason's Thesis, I heartily endorse it as well. It contains vital information to have as a producer (the history and culture of the genre linked to technology and techniques) especially because it gives you a handle on why a sound from a certain period sounds the way it does.

Cool, will drop you a message on Soundcloud.

After reading that paper last summer I started looking for a lot of new material to sample, as well as thinking about different ways I could experiment with breaks. Happy to say my sample library has a lot of new material nowadays, and a lot of ways to create new variations on breaks... but that's just one area that I'm trying to pay attention to and develop.

Module Eight (dBridge, Loxy, Resound, Skeptical, Kid Drama) dropped their Legacy LP last Friday and it's loving mental. Although a supergroup level collaboration like this could easily miss it's mark and sound disjointed, these masters-of-the-trade throw down an impressive array of murderous slices. If you have the appropriate sound system these tracks are guaranteed to belt.

For me, "Meltdown", "Legacy" and "The Inspector" are my favorites from the album. "The Inspector" reminds me of early Universal Project tunes.

Exit Records has a newcomer - or possibly another label collaboration, it's unknown so far: Richie Brains. The LP dropped yesterday and it's pure loving fire.

I've been hungrily acquiring new music like crazy this past few weeks. I never used to like shuffly halftime hip-hop stuff (like Ivy Lab's latest work) but a lot of it is finding its way into my rotations. OPERATIONS vol. 13 should be out in no time.

Last night was the big unveiling event, Richie Brains is: Alix Perez - Chimpo - Fixate - Fracture - Om Unit - Sam Binga - Stray. Here is dBridge's write up about the project:

I figured it was a super group like the Module 8 project, and had guessed a few of the people involved.

Is there any kind of DnB weekly show, similar to what Digweed had on Kiss for trance? I could really go for a reliable source for a weekly mix without having to search the internet every time.

DJ Hype has a KISS FM show, Friction has a show on BBC Radio One, and then there are lots of web-based shows, and Rinse FM has some monthly dnb shows (usually label showcases, but a few DJ led shows).

Sorry to be a bother but I've been out of the world for a few years. I was kind of shocked to find that the Chemical Record Store is closed. Now that I'm back in I was hoping for some recommended UK/US online stores such as the aforementioned.

And maybe if you're feeling very helpful some artists along the lines of Calibre?

Many thanks.

For new stuff I've been ordering from Red Eye Records (http://www.redeyerecords.co.uk/) or Juno (http://www.juno.co.uk), otherwise I buy used stuff on Discogs, small orders if US-based (yay USPS Media Mail!), big orders if UK-based ("how many records can I get in the box at XX shipping rate?"

Check what's been coming out on Soul:r the past couple of years, and then check this discographies of some of the artists that catch your attention. Thinking LSB, some of FD's stuff. Also a lot of Ivy Lab (and probably Halogenix's solo stuff) and Alix Perez's stuff, it's split between different sub-styles & vibes, but there is some in the Calibre vein. Maybe some of Chroma's releases too.

Thanks, mate...it was heartbreaking to find Chemical Records closed. Juno i know, thanks for the tip on Red Eye and all the rest. Just discovered a blown channel on my mixer so that's top priority. Any recommends for podcasts? Thanks again.

I'm part of Expansion Broadcast podcast and just had a mix go up today:

http://www.expansionbroadcast.com/podcast/696/

Sam Binga & Om Unit – “Planetary Reboot” (BUNIT002)
Glyphic – “Tunnel Vision (R4NS0M Remix)” (Detrimental Audio)
Soul Intent – “Move Your Body” (Commercial Suicide)
ArpXP & Reza – “When You Gone (ArpXP Amen Edit 2016)” (Metalheadz)
Mako – “The Narrator” (Metalheadz)
Cern – “Dark Before Dawn”
Glyphic – “Short Cut” (Detrimental Audio)
Mortran (a.k.a. Glyphic & R4NS0M) – dub#05
Mikal – “The Ruff Life” (Metalheadz)
John B – “The Colossus” (Metalheadz)
Hive – “Repentance” (Project 51)
Klute – “Arboretum” (Metalheadz)
TV On The Radio – “Staring At The Sun” (Touch & Go)

As for other mixes, I tend to grab shows off of Rinse FM's site (https://www.rinse.fm), usually the Critical, Metalheadz, and Dispatch shows. Icicle has a show on there, Youngsta plays some dnb, MC Stamina does a show, and Uncle Dugs has a bit of older jungle. I check the Critical podcast too, and DJ Flight has a podcast as well, The Next Chapter. I know Hospital has a regular podcast, and there might be a few others.

What up dnb goons.

The Invisible Man did some great tracks. Found a guy called Exocet who only released a few singles but one in particular - Demon Seed - was amazing.

If you liked the sound of "Demon Seed", look for the John B 'Trance & Bass' mix that he did for Mixmag.

This is probably going to be my last mix for a while. I'm going to focus on writing so hopefully the next one will heavily feature my own work. Anyway here's

Good goal, doing the same. Also doing something in the 130 BPM, a lot of edits I've done for my own use.

Any Ohm Resistance fans out there? Submerged is back in action. Got a free mix on ye olde SoundCloud from late 2016

You Will Choose Fire is his new band, featuring yours truly on guitar, vocals, and co-production. We've got some hype music coming out this year, and I'm hoping to get some dark, twisted, mid 00s dnb released in the next couple of months.

I know Submerged from way way back, when he started the label, several DC artists that started out on the Ohm Wreckers series of releases. He was very active in the DC scene, used to throw a night called Tangent, which I played a bunch.
