He motherfucking is. I didn't need another dnb album for like a year and half after tough guys don't dance came out.

If ANYONE EVER hasn't bought that lp, for god's sakes, do it now. You won't even thank me, you'll just die a happy man/woman/boy/girl/it

Exactly! It is without a doubt my favorite DNB album ever. Every song just picks you up and makes you dance. "Forever and a Day", "Chances", "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang", "Eternal Optimist", I could name just about every drat track off that album as a favorite.

Also, people should listen to his 2007 essential mix, it was the mix of the year and for good reason. It is absolutely awesome.

I for one thought that Immersion was pretty good, I pretty much like the songs that everyone else likes (set me on fire, island part 2, witchcraft).

But, we should probably get back to talking about actual Drum & Bass. Does anyone know of any other Liquid Funk songs that has a heavy use of strings that is not Blame song?

My advice would be - Don't. It looks retarded (unless you're really good at it, but even then, you look like a poser.) Just dance how the music makes you move naturally.

I agree, it does look weird. You don't have to move to every single drum beat, instead just move to the bass and count each phrase (even though this is still fast)!

I study Modern Dance and I've been wanting to do a solo to a drum n' bass song for a long time, unfortunately I just find the count to be way too fast and will mostly likely look goofy. I've been thinking of doing one but dancing at half-speed of the count. Would anyone think this would work?

That'd mean the count is like 85 bpm, which seems fine to me. How normal is andante for dance?

Andante is the normal tempo for most Modern Dance, I just don't want people to criticize me for dancing half speed to a song with a way faster count.

and of course one of the best uses of a string sample:

Klute - We're All Dying

Those were excellent! Great use of strings.

Here are some others I have found with great string samples.

Try using something by D-Bridge or Instra:Mental, or anything 'Autonomic' then. Still DnB, just fewer beats!

Oh yeah! The beat is way slower and much easier to dance to in my opinion. This is exactly what I'm looking for, thanks.

I think it'd be cool to see how many goons are in each "clique". I'm a liquid guy so I haven't even heard anything by a lot of the big harder dnb producers. I still like some harder stuff, just prefer my sweet sweet liquid... mmmmmm...

And its my pleasure to introduce more people to Netsky :) Everyone buy the album when it releases! I reaaaallyy wish I lived in the UK sometimes when I see those "every weekend" lineups. Holy poo poo.

A,sl, does anyone know what Logistics is up to lately? Just DJing or is he working on a new album? I didn't really like Crash Bang Wallop, tho eastern promise is huge.

Edit: I know there's a pretty big crossover in fanbases for dubstep and dnb, so if any of you dudes like dubstep I highly recommend Nero - Innocence. Big fuckin track!

I too had heard very little of Netsky, but there is a song of his that is absolutely blowing my mind.

Man, this is really relaxing. Does anyone know of any other kind of chill Drum N Bass?

I just wanted to thank whoever recommended High Contrast - Tough Guy's Don't Dance. I've been listening to it non-stop since I picked it up. Forever and a Day is loving amazing.

I agree totally, Forever and a Day might be my favorite Drum N Bass song of all time, since it got me into the genre. I also think it's highly underrated, but I can't wait until High Contrast drops his next album later this year.

Just for you:

I'm actually a little scared for HC's new album. He's gone downhill since High Society (TGDD did have a couple good tracks, but the release was "meh" to me). Not saying I don't play his tracks out, they're just not as creative as they used to be.

With the way hospital-style dnb is moving, I feel like HC might make everyone take a collective step backward because guys like Netsky are bringing a completely new sound to the table and HC may have hit a creative brick wall.

example:

vs

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXiiq0dvMu4

I know I'm probably in the minority, but TGDD just had an extra layer of cheese that didn't click with me.

I would have to disagree entirely. I love the fact that High Contrast brought some of old school jungle back in Tough Guys Don't Dance. I feel that each album is different enough from each other that I can see why some people might not like his new stuff compared to his older stuff and vice versa.

I've listened to the album a couple times now, and I kind of agree. Maybe I just don't 'get' it, but most of it is pretty meh. I really like the first track Escape though.

Fake edit: The album mix is pretty good, too.

I think the album has some really great chill n bass songs like "Let's Leave Tomorrow" and "Mellow", but with Immersion and this album I'm noticing more chip tune or 8-bit sounding samples. What's up with that?

As much as most people don't like the Pop N'Bass that Blame tends to produce, I'm quite enjoying his Blame The Music album. Especially his House/Breakbeat stuff.

I don't usually like liquid, but that one gave me chills. Solid track. I saw High Contrast in San Diego a couple years back, and the turnout had to be less than 50 people. The system kept cutting out, but that dude just had a huge smile on his face and kept killing it.

It's a shame that I didn't get into Liquid until early 2009. I would do anything to have High Contrast come back to Southern California.

Edit: Also, a new song that is unnamed but it looks like it was made by him. Also, this song played earlier in the thread.
