I was at Wal-Mart today checking to see if they had Alien Anthology in stores, and saw it on shelves. How many people do you think will accidentally buy the DVD instead of the blu-ray because of the blue Facebook logo taking up the top of the case?

That's not the reason he's saying that. The reason he's saying that is because it's not a slipcover, it's a "slip-piece-of-cardboard-with-no-bottom-that-folds-open."

Click here for the full 640x480 image.

And yes, as someone who likes slipcovers, and especially likes the cover that is on the cardboard (even though I LOVE the Criterion-esque packaging), it is very annoying that they couldn't just make it a slipcover.

According to posters on blu-ray.com, some Canadian retailers have it in their systems that Tron and Tron Legacy will be released in their various configurations on April 5. God, do I love the turnaround time on Disney releases.

Also according to this the price for the big pack, which includes TRON: Legacy 3D, TRON: Legacy, and TRON (with DVDs of both of them and a digital copy), is going to be $66.73 or so on Amazon, which is the price of buying the two blu-rays (+DVD) separately. So you're getting a 3D blu-ray and a digital copy for free, essentially.

It's pretty nice I guess, since who knows, I might get a 3D TV in the future.

It doesn't work anyway. Someone on the blu-ray forums said that it happened with Gladiator. He called about the program, he gave his info, they said they'd contact him in 1-2 weeks. They called him again in 1-2 weeks and asked him specific information like what is on the blu-ray case. Then, when he got the disc, it had something say where to send his old copy to.

Yeah, blu-ray.com is complete poo poo for movie ratings. I absolutely never, ever care what they say about a movie, because when someone gives Jackass 3D a 1 and Cats and Dogs 2 a 3 (yes, I understand people don't like Jackass, but, you understand my point), there's no point in reading their reviews on the actual movie.

What I don't understand is how they gave the Dungeons & Dragons 2-pack a 2.5/5 when he basically blasted everything about the films, the transfer, and even many of the extras. His review read like a 1 or 1.5 tops.

But my understanding with blu-ray.com is, while they discuss the films fairly in-depth, the reviews and scores themselves are based entirely on the blu-ray presentation, not the film itself.
They changed it. It was a 1 when it was originally uploaded.
But yes, blu-ray.com is wonderful for actually talking about the picture/audio and not letting if they like the movie or not change that.

It's still dumb that they have a review section though and give movies to people who do not like the genre.

Yeah, I figured you were talking about this, and once again, it should not be equated into how the picture quality of the blu-ray looks. Blue screen effects from the 50s, especially rushed ones, will not look good in 1080p. That is not the tranfer's fault.

He goes on and on about just how faithful it is (acting as if it's a bad thing?) and then gives it a 4.0 for quality.
Yes, the movie is incredibly dated. Yes, it looks funny and silly nowadays. If the blu-ray takes that, and makes it look the best it can, is it not doing its job completely? The quality of the effects in the movie should not effect the way in which the video quality is graded.

I'd much rather have this perfect transfer of TRON than some DNR'd Frankenstein's monster of a blu-ray.

Do any of you watch your BDs on a PC? Previously I had watched everything on my PS3, but it would be nice to have Blu-ray functionality on my PC. So knowing that my video card and monitor were HDCP-compliant, I got a blu-ray drive and am trying out the ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre 5 demo.

Only, I don't know, it gets kind of choppy every 5 minutes. I assume it's somehow my hardware, but wanted to rule out TMT first at least.

I watch blu-rays with my laptop. I forget what specific drive I have, but, I have an HD graphics card, a 1080p monitor, and I use PowerDVD 10. It works absolutely fine. The only problem I've ever had is needing to update in order to watch the Avatar special edition blu-ray. Well, there's also this thing PowerDVD (or maybe it's my drive, not sure) does that when you pause a movie, if it's for more than like 1 minute, then hit play again, it will play for about 3 seconds, freeze up, then start again.

Also, using PowerDVD 10 turns off Windows Aero, and puts it in basic mode, but that's not really a problem.

Blu-ray literally makes black and white shows/movies the sexiest things on earth. What they do is they take the originals, and clean them up with different mastering techniques.
