Some audiophiles just piss and moan about wanting to be able to do everything via their receivers.

I've heard some fat PS3 owners complain a whole lot about the fact that their PS3 doesn't light up the DTS-HD or Dolby HD lights on their receiver, even though it has no effect on the sound at all.

You might want to wait and see if William Friedkin does anything crazy to it before you buy it. He completely changed the colors in The French Connection. It looks cool, but I'd like to have the original version too :(

Does anyone know if I'll eventually be able to get Fistful of Dollars and For A Few Dollars More individually? I was looking at dvdbeaver and they seem to look great, but it sounds like I'd be better off getting a different country's edition of GBU

Has anyone seen either of the Michael Keaton Batman movies on BD? I have a gift card at Best Buy where they're $20 apiece, but I'm having a hard time deciding based on dvdbeaver whether they're worth the upgrade or not from the Special Edition DVDs.

As soon as I do they'll probably go on sale a week later.

Cool. I want Adventureland and I got all excited when I saw a "On Sale!" sticker on it at Best Buy, until I got closer and saw that it's "on sale" for the price of $26.99. I'm hoping I can find it a lot cheaper on ebay or elsewhere online.

I dunno - it looks like the Premium Edition is only the stand-alone Final Cut as already distributed in the EU, so it seems to me the US multi-disc, multi-cut edition is still the ultimate release.

I don't know this for sure, but I have to assume that these so-called "Premium Editions" digibooks are exactly the same discs stuck into a new fancy package. If you don't already own these on Blu, that's one thing, but at some point I think you might need to take a step back and review your collector's mentality!

Oh, yeah, I was just saying the packaging probably looks really cool. I don't think I'll be actually buying another copy of Blade Runner for a good long while. Having multiple copies across multiple media is one thing, I don't think I'm ready to start double-dipping within blu-ray yet.

Is there any reason at all to have lossless audio for Always Sunny?

The first season of Weeds is all on one disc in 1080p but with a regular DTS track (if I remember correctly) and it looks okay, certainly not great, but better than the Always Sunny Christmas BD at least.

How's Wong Kar-wai's Fallen Angels? It's on sale on the Best Buy website for $9.99, which is perfect impulse buy territory for me, and everything I've read about it sounds interesting, but I was never very thrilled with Chungking Express. Can anyone tell me about the various international versions of Let the Right One In? I was dumb enough to buy the US release with the bad subtitles, and on principle I'd rather not give Magnolia MORE money to replace the lovely product they released originally. Certain companies (Warner Bros. included, obviously) have been sending those "Rental Only" copies of both DVD and Blu-ray movies for about a year now. I think it's an attempt to cut down on the number of people taking advantage of Blockbuster's "5 previously rented movies for $20" deals.

A lot of the Director's Cut stuff is really dumb but I actually kind of like the random gargoyle heads and stuff because the shots are composed in such a way that they are rarely the first thing you notice. When you see them in stills they look a lot shittier than they seem when you're actually watching the movie.

Has anybody else watched their The Girl Who Played with Fire disc? I watched it the other night and the picture quality seems strangely... bad.

At the very least, it's inconsistent. Some shots look fine while others look really fuzzy and noisy. I also saw a big-rear end hair or scratch or something dancing around on the right side of the screen for like 15 seconds. I don't remember The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo having these issues.

I dunno man, according to a lot of chatter all over the internet, the desaturation definitely seems to be a problem endemic to the Blu-Ray.

In your best estimate, do you think this might end up being an issue similar to Gladiator or Gangs of New York where it might get a really fast re-release (and possibly an exchange program?) or is something like this too minor?

I'm asking because I was all set to buy this day one but it's pretty loving expensive, especially if the picture is subpar.
