Because they want to re-release it this holiday season as a special edition. We should just refer to the upcoming Avatar as Avatar 2.0 or perhaps Avatar: Milk It for Every Dollar Edition.

Would it be wise to assume that the re-release will contain the current disc as-is or will they sacrifice the A/V quality for special features (it's bound to have a commentary at least)? Wondering how much I need to buy it or not. I haven't actually seen any stores demoing it for some reason.

How's Wong Kar-wai's Fallen Angels? It's on sale on the Best Buy website for $9.99, which is perfect impulse buy territory for me, and everything I've read about it sounds interesting, but I was never very thrilled with Chungking Express. Granted, it's been years since I've seen it, but I thought I'd ask people's opinion anyway.

I prefer it to Chungking Express. They're very similar in style obviously, but Fallen Angels had more interesting storylines and characters to me which are interwoven more cohesively together than the large division between the two in Chungking Express. Haven't picked up the bluray version though.

I doubt it, and aside from reducing the number of discs and maybe having some features similar to Generation Kill (where they list all the characters, have maps or explain lingo) I don't think visually there's much of a need to upgrade. I picked up the set on eBay for cheap and honestly wouldn't have minded paying full price for it either.

So, this - probably my most anticipated Blu Ray release - showed up in Australia & Germany last week with no fanfare at all.

I can't find any reviews, and barely a mention of the release at all. Pretty skeptical of the quality, especially due to the amount of stock footage used, and the rumors that Criterion are currently working on a release.

The Baraka blu-ray was handled pretty well except for the cheap cardboard case (which they've since rectified) so hopefully I'd assume there would be care taken for a proper release of this.
