Got a quick question-

A friend of my sister is enlisting Active Army. He screwed up a little bit in the past, and had to sign a moral waiver in order to enlist. (He was arrested for Criminal Mischief and Breach of Peace). The recruiter called him today, and told him that since he signed a moral waiver, he now only has a 7 day window to enlist.

I've never heard of anything like this, and it smells of recruiter bullshit. Anyone hear anything like this?

I'm not in the military, but my Army recruiter told me that he can reserve any thing (MOS, bonuses, etc) for me for as long as I go down to Meps to swear in within 7 days.

So that recruiter is bsing and totally skewing what the 7 day thing actually is.

Or, my recruiter is bsing me. :P

I haven't been in long, but I have an awesome recruiter who gives me no bullshit. I'm pretty sure what he's telling you is bologna. I had a 91B waiting for me whenever I was ready to enlist. In my case, I was ready to enlist the week before he told me this, but I still didn't have a "window". I think that's him trying to wrangle up his recruits as quickly as possible.

Also, I don't know what "(MOS, bonuses, etc)" means, did he say you could pick your own bonus? Yeah.... not exactly true. 91B is a no sign-on bonus MOS, no matter what, when you first join, I'm almost certain.

Again, don't grill me if I'm wrong, because I've been enlisted since only April. I'm just telling you what my experience has been.

Yeah you're probably right. He just said, when he gets a open 68W slot he'll call me and reserve and I have 7 days to enlist. I believed him because it took him about a month to get the open slot till he called me. He never said I could pick my own bonus, I am just saying what ever else he can get on your contract, must be taken down to MEPS within the 7 days of reserving.

If someone enlists as a Healthcare Specialist in the Army (68W), where do they typically wind up serving?

Bro, everyone been telling me that 68W can go literally anywhere, anywhere where the army needs them.

Would a 68W most likely walk along side combat troops, or am I in a lovely little post in some Southern town telling recruits to spread 'em?

If the Army needs you with combat troops they will put you there, if they need you in the south telling recruits to spread, they will put you there also.

I ain't a 68W, but people here, and my recruiter been telling me that damned same answer no matter how I ask. :P

I was on disability from a surgery about a year before I swore in at MEPS... I For some reason just remembered that I answered no when they ask if you ever had disability. Should I worry about that or am I just being paranoid?

Army, 68W no security clearance, if that matters.

What's up everyone. I start EFMB in a couple weeks and our battalion has been doing train up for it. Night land nav is killing me, we did one course which I failed miserable (1/5 points). We do another in a couple days. Just looking for some tips to help me through. I already been googling around and got some good tips.

In case you're wondering how I failed, I was treating this like I do usual day land nav (which I do fine), plot all points and just shoot a azimuth and walked.

I appreciate the help so far guys. Taking all this to note. If it helps im at Ft. Stewart and my farthest point was 2400 meters... all very thick forest and very very very thick brush in some areas which really messed me up twice. The visibility that night was 1%.

I've noticed I've plotted about 10 points total in the same course for my day and night land nav combined. All points were on a tank trail or off a little fire trail. The strat I feel like doing is staying on roads/trails at all times shooting azimuths and doing pace counts to these roads.

I appreciate the help iceslice and oxygen, I feel more confident I shall succeed. Yes we have been using the 144 course but apparently they will change it to... camp casey* according the PNN.

*not sure if that is even a real place here on stewart, just heard about it*

Has anyone been stationed at FOB Shank? My company is deploying there around July this year and was wondering what to expect. One of the guys said an officer from 3 corp went for a month and 6 people died. This is my first deployment, I joined back in July 12. Google search is severly lacking.

I'm here now, like garrison. Don't forget your eyepro and reflective belt!
