The soonest is probably somewhere around the launch time of G12, which might be some time between August and October. However the S80 came out in 2005, so it could take a while

Canon Japan's website are showing 'limited stock' on S90, SX20 IS and SX120 IS. http://cweb.canon.jp/camera/powershot/index.html So it might be a sign that they are on their way out, or the demand for them have just gone up

It works pretty well in the 100mm 2.8L Macro. Up to 4 stops or so. I guess you can take sharper hand-held landscape shots at night or macro in a dark room?

Dongsmith posted:Alright, I couldn't resist and just pre-ordered the S95 on Amazon. Here's hoping it kicks rear end. I hope mine gets here before the end of the month. Just sold my old s90 too for 20 bucks less than retail.

Well sold it on CL for 280 actually , which is 20 bucks less a retail online store like dell. I thought it wasn't too bad considering I bought it in mid-October last year and used for about one year. But I did maintain the camera in pretty much brand new condition with box/receipt and kept everything that came with it. Here's hoping the new IS and 720p will be worth the $120

High ISO shot with S95, along with HD video and low ISO samples. Scroll down and click on the ones with a magnifying glass for full size. http://www.eprice.com.tw/dc/talk/?prod_id=657&tid=11629 Seems like people in Taiwan have been getting them already since a few days ago. It's supposed to go on sale in Japan at the 26th.

S95 is pretty much the same as the S90, especially if you dont shoot video.

Jadus posted:Any suggestions on a good place to buy a Canon S90 or S95 in Canada (specifically Alberta)? I'm having a hard time finding either, and don't know of any good Canadian online retailers that would carry it. http://www.simonscameras.com/digitalphoto/pshoot/index.asp?cat=200&fmt=60&ftype=0 Give them a call about the S95. I got the 70-200 mug from them with no problems so I guess they are ok

To combine the already mentioned clock short cut, there are few other things you can do with the S95: Hold down the review button to view the photos without powerup the rest of the lens/camera. Hold down Func. Set and press power to bring up the neat clock. While shooting in outdoor/brightly lit situations. Hold down DISP button to instantly toggle between maximum and preset LCD brightness. AF LOCK- While half pressing the shutter button and achieved a focus, press the macro/MF button (left ring button) to get focus lock (basically changing it to MF). To revert to regular focus, just let go of the shutter button and press the macro/MF button briefly. AE LOCK While half pressing the shutter button and achieved an exposure reading, press the exposure compensation button (top ring button) to get exposure lock. To revert to regular exposure, just let go of the shutter button and press the exposure compensation button briefly.

Judging from the two shots you posted, you were actually try to get those panning shots with a sharp looking car but with a blurry background, but did you know you can actually change the IS mode from Shoot-only to Panning? Panning stabilization mode will only stabilize the lens in one axis and should give you a sharp looking result even with something like 1/10 ~ 1/25, it's pretty much what the SLR shooters use explicitly on their IS lenses when shooting motorsports. And with such a slow shutter speed and improved hybrid-is on S95, you should should be able to get sharp photos without cranking up the ISO or using the wide end only. Read the manual

Need to update your raw convert in CS4.. seems like 5.7 is the last version for cs4, but it does not support the S95. So you will need CS5/Lightroom with ACR 6.x.

If you are looking for aftermarket batteries, check out the brand called SterlingTek. They seem to have a good rep for using well sourced cells. Never had any problems with their batteries and from what I've seen most of the time the extra large capacity ones actually do last longer than the OEM ones.
